??? What in the world did he do to that ferrule?... I’m sure it’s structurally “ fine” but ....I’m sure a new ferrule could be installed for 30-40 bucks but I just can’t imagine what he was doing here??

Probably a tip shaper. Doesn't affect playability. I didn't even notice until the closeup pic.
