Hansi Buchem

Thanks for showing us your room and videos, I enjoyed them a lot. I was stationed in Germany from late 68 to mid 1970 on a radar site at Wasserkuppe. Not sure if you have ever been there, but it was a real nice time, and some fantastic skiing in the winter. That's where I first tried my hand at pool as we had a few tables on base there. Played pool till about the mid 80's then gave it up for a little over 30 years, and now back at it again, but no where near as good as I was then, but I am having fun. Hopefully the covid situation there, gets better for you soon, and you are able to get out to play against others, if that is what you would like to do. I am really fortunate here as where my wife and I play pool league, has never shut down, and quite honestly we have had very few issues with covid, with 3 nights of league there. I really miss my times in Germany, and at times think of going back there to visit, maybe will sometime. Thanks again.

a little 9ball game, just for fun
Where in Germany are you? We used to go to Germany around Christmas every year in the 90s, stay for about a month. My wife is German and had family there. I liked the Christkindl markets, everyone enjoying their Gluhwein

I played pool all over Germany. Back in the early 90s it was getting popular there, I won a lot of money. I don't think the Germans had the concept yet of a pool hustler, they would just step up and play. I only played in one tournament there in Augsburg losing in the finals to some champion snooker player. I got there kind of late and they weren't going to let me play cuz I wasn't dressed properly, I was just wearing jeans and a sweatshirt.

The audience started yelling though they wanted to see the American play so they let me play with a promise that when I came back I'd be dressed properly. I had to go buy some black pants and a white shirt. Haven't been there in years though.
