Side pocket roll away issue

Thanks in advance for any idea on this. BIL had a Rasson 8' installed about 6 months ago. It was used but seemed/seems in very good shape. Seller/installer also put new 860 cloth on it. As I understand it, the table is 3 piece slate so the side pockets should not be on a seam.

As a ball rolls slowly down table near the rail, at the point in front of the pocket, it will veer away from the rail slightly inward to the table. One side pocket slightly more so than the other but these are the only two spots on the table we notice any un-level roll.

BIL thinks maybe since the cloth was glued there might be a slight excess at these two points but that seems unlikely to me being the "high spots" are equally in the same spot of the table, opposite each other.

Any possibilities come to mind? :) Probably need to take up the cloth but that only helps get to something to see and I'm not sure what that is!

Appreciate any ideas you may have from experience.

Sounds like it is out of level at the side pockets. BIL may want to reach out to the installer and let him know he's got a roll off. It's not glue as glue in not applied directly to the playing surface, it's applied to the edges of the slate.

Could also be the stretch of the cloth being wrong. Try to look closely at the cloth by the side pockets to see if it takes a curve or if it stays reasonably straight. On my install, installer didn't do a good job stretching and when a ball rolls extremely slow past the side pockets, it will veere off course slightly.

I wish that everyone knew that glue is not to be applied to the playing surface. The installer for the table renting company in our area was putting glue on top of the slate in front of the pockets I believe. If you slow rolled a ball into the pocket you could watch the ball roll in, stop, then roll about a 1/4 turn back out in front of all of the pocket openings. 😲😲😲

Guys! Thanks a million for the input. All of those scenarios make sense and I've only seen two tables installed, my GC1 and Medalist and they were stapled.

I'll post up what he finds out in case it comes up for somebody else. (y)

Yes sir! Sounds like a problem all too familiar. I had the same problem with a cloth job that wasn’t stretched evenly and I had the same roll off. If the OP hires a good mechanic to install the cloth this problem will more than likely be solved.
