I mainly play 8 ball and 9 ball but with my own table will be trying some 10 ball as well. Never really looked into 1 pocket, ill have to look at it some.
Where do you live?? If in the States i'd buy the Diamond EVERY TIME. I buy enough Chinese-made stuff at Walmart.Hoping to be ready to buy a 9' table come spring or summer. Looking at a Diamond Pro or Pro am 1 pie e slate or a Rasson ox or victory 2. Which do you all like? Which pocket size? 4.5 or 4.25?
Im in New Brunswick , Canada. im leaning towards Diamond as im not a huge fan of buying chinese either.Where do you live?? If in the States i'd buy the Diamond EVERY TIME. I buy enough Chinese-made stuff at Walmart.
I have played on the OX @ Backwoods Billiards in Okeechobee FLA, the owner and I played pretty late, very nice guy! They play great! how could they not? they are a copy of how a gold crown and a diamond plays. klematch p59 k55 cushions are to notch. Main issues with all this metal: vibration... I have spoken to other mechanics that have set them up = NIGHTMARE. So you better have a TOP notch mechanic. Not that the china part is a big deal to me, so many manufacturers have most of their parts made there, the slate comes mostly from China, there is no network of proficient mechanics to work on them. Diamond is your route. I am also a Diamond dealer and mechanic (not looking for a sale in Heaths area) and if you have any questions< I would be willing to chat with you on the phone if you like. I just noticed you live near our new place in MAINE!!!Im in New Brunswick , Canada. im leaning towards Diamond as im not a huge fan of buying chinese either.

I've noticed most reviews of pool equipment are from places selling it. That and they seem to be aimed at more casual players.Get the Rasson Victory 2 and please post a detailed review!
Thats an interesting observation. From an engineering perspective, one could also argue that a more condensed base footprint has less exposure to floor level variations, and the multi point leveling system would probably make it a wash anyway. Hard to say… When I was evaluating them, my (minor) concern with the smaller base design was the potential for less than bombproof stability in a high use environment, table bumps, leaning/reaching, etc.I've noticed most reviews of pool equipment are from places selling it. The Rasson looks great and the extruded aluminum frame seems like a great idea. The small base concerns me slightly if you don't have a concrete slab. With the contact points so close together, any shift in your floor will have a much greater effect than on a Diamond, which has the contact points what looks like 50% further apart. I may be a bit paranoid here. My floor has noticeable high and low spots but my pool table hasn't shifted noticeably in the year I've owned it but I think you should consider this if you have a wood framed floor. Just a thought.
I am probably overestimating the risk. My table is levelled with shims so any settling will take a lot of work to rectify. The Rasson's frame and levelling system do look nice in the video I saw. Really, the shape makes the base look a bit smaller than it is, I think it would take quite a collision to upset the table. As far as product support goes, I think once the table is properly installed I wouldn't worry too much. I agree more manufacturers is great for the consumer, they have to compete for the business.the multi point leveling system would probably make it a wash anyway
I would call Heath Manning for your order if you buy a diamond. Many have bought from him including myself. Heath is the customer service of diamond essentially, him and Glen. Anyway I have heard some good things on a Rasson but not too many out there in the wild and your taking a gamble imo with future support/parts/install etc. Diamonds will always hold their value and everyone knows what they are. In regards to pockets size 4.25 is tough. Even the pro's have issues once you get down that tight. Look at some of the matchroom event that had the 4.25 pockets. For a 9 unless your highly skilled I would go with 4.5 pro's. Also that's a standard size. It will be several hundred dollars more to get the tighter pockets.Hoping to be ready to buy a 9' table come spring or summer. Shelf on a ProCut Diamond is 1.75". At least on the one i measured.Shelf depth not sure on either. I believe Diamond uses 141 degree.
Rasson should copy it lol. If they already don't. Pro cut pocket is awesome.
