I need one, too.

Has anyone here watched Mueller's video on doing it yourself and has a comment, good or bad?

Got this in my email today.

What makes installing cloth that much different with Simonis on a Diamond?

I also heard a 1piece slate pro am has the felt installed at the factory? I take it the professional is different?

GoldCrown who did you get your table through that didnt do the cloth correctly and what did they do wrong?

Also where are you located?

Not mentioning the dealer/installer. Just looking to get things straightened out. The cloth on the Diamonds are glued not stapled. Special glue and proper technique is required. The Diamond Professional gets assembled on location and it needs a factory trained mech to handle it. I bought the table knowing a funky job is very possible but was willing to have someone with experience re-do after delivery and pay out of pocket. That's where I'm at now. The V cuts are not suppose to be visible inside the pockets.... the cloth is loose where it wraps around the slate wall in the pocket...and a loose area on the table.

The dealer is sending out a different mech to look/remedy. He was not available when table was delivered. We'll see how it goes. But if RKC was close I'd pay him a premium to handle the job. And if I have to wait for him I'll still make it worth his time
Photo's please

This looks so familiar. The restorers I bought my table from did about the same job during initial setup. The next cloth change was local guys that did get it much tighter and a much more even stretch, but still not what I would call a professional job. Good luck! Hope one of the good guys from this forum can get down there and make it right!

Wow, at least mine was installed tight with no visible cuts, but as far as to straightness of stretch, well, let's just say a drunken sailor's walk would be much straighter. Diamond really should crack down on some of their authorized sellers and installers. While I realize there are great ones out there, this seems like a common theme lately among some of their authorized sellers, and quite honestly the customer should be able to expect a quality install when buying this level of table. This luck of the draw install senerio rests solely on Diamond for letting retailers sell and install their product unprofessionally.

Doing tables is tough work, and the pay is not great. It takes a good amount of time and skill to do things right, and anyone can claim to be able to do the job. You really have to enjoy what you do, and have the desire to do what you can to make pool better by making each table you work on as good as it can be. Sadly, not many I've met have that attitude. Best of luck with the new mechanic, I hope they sort it for you.

I’m patient so it’ll work out. Ditto to your post. Sadly most pool table buyers are not educated buyers and do not know the difference as to what they received. That applies to my GC4 I bought in 1998. Pockets were not precise. One was 5”. The other less. Slight roll. Over tightened castings. I had no idea what a tournament grade set up was. The installers customers do not have a standard therefore the workmanship never improves. I commend those that become the masters of the trade. But there is not enough of them.

Hi,
I would like to know what you consider the perfect 1Pocket table.
A table/cloth assembled properly. A table that can be played on with no complaints. 4.5 corners. I’ll back up a little and say no table is perfect but if it’s close enough it’s perfect. I’d like to hear what others consider a perfect table. There are a lot of excellent/professional installers and do not want to discredit any of them…. but will say a table done by RKC or Mark will be a perfect set up and that'll set the standard for a perfect table, Is that fair to say.

The perfect 1 pocket table to me would be an Anniversary with 4 1/4" pockets and RKC or Perfect Pocketz rubbed on rails.
Or the Centennial aka The Greyhound Bus. Either is perfect high end furniture aside being the perfect 1p table……
And a basic out of the box no frills table set up properly such as a GC or Diamond is not too shabby

Thanks TCC. I’m covered for now and follow up if installer does not mind his name here. I’ll keep your referrals in mind for future service. BTW… I’m enjoying the TCC T shirt. Sorry we’re not neighbors.. I’d enjoy getting killed playing 1 rail with you

Cloth swapped and looking/playing real good. I'll enjoy it for a long stretch (no pun). Wes Burden did the work. Came from Tampa. 8 hour total travel time. Wes came highly recommended and I'll pass that along. Wes is a great communicator. Stayed in touch until we set a date. Gave me an ETA and showed up on schedule. Professionally his work speaks for itself. As for a person.... a real pleasure to have in your house or business to service your table. I'm thankful the pool world has Wes.... If you need a set up or service call Wes first...Or call him after to service someone else's job you're not satisfied with. Thanks Wes if you are reading this. Everyone has high regard for you. Keep up the good work.
