Does anyone agree someone should make new Cloth Installation VIDEOS??

Does anyone agree their is a need for new Cloth Installation VIDEOS?? Maybe something that shows some other basic stuff as well?

I think some new training videos would be good for our industry. I have resources and people who are also on the same track that are willing to be involved.

The current SImonis Video's show a great install with staples, but, the glue down method on the video is NOT correct.
In fact, Simonis's website literally says not to use 3m77 spray.... What is being used?? Yup, 3M77. Also , the stretch pattern is different. WHY?

All cloth can be stretched and indexed in order to get it installed correctly.

I think we need a new training format that is free of any specific brand of cloth.

I am also willing to put forth time and money to do it. I know, I am crazy, its OK. It will happen if it is meant to be

What also would be awesome if someone would do a "instructions for installing and leveling 3-piece slates"
which is pinned to the "Talk to a Machinic" by RKC.
It would be great to get that in DVD.

DVD would be useless to me as my laptops don't even have a DVD player, and I'm not about to go out and buy a player for a one time use of a DVD. YouTube yes, but I'm not sure how you could get a fair return of your investment of time in that way.

Yes, the current material is dated and the glue down method shown very misleading.

DVD and Youtube, Digital Download of course.

IT NEEDS TO BE DISTRIBUTED FOR FREE. This is not about any one person or any one person / company making money off of it.

Money is not the goal! Spreading good information is 100% the goal.

Jeff, First: I understand how business works.

Second: I worked in TV studios in college and have my Bachelors.

Third: I also already have a team of 4 of the best mechanics in the mid-west.

Fourth: I am connected with every manufacturer in pool if I need help.

Finally, I already have a plan to pay for it that includes my money. Miscue in Toloedo to record it in and my equipment to record it all. I promise none of this includes the need to beg for money on here. I have people to ask for that who have budgets for it.

Free for installers & mechanics = Better results for all pool players.

Good luck with this. It sure needs to be. I'm glad someone in the know is stepping up to the long-overdue task.

Think a DVD is not bad idea, but as tables are different, with different problem.

That is why people hire a pro with loud of experience to recover, fix, or save dying table.

Can do that is DVD should 100’s of problems, and fixes.

Do not think it would be something I would buy, as I have seen local Mechanic do tables.

Man has investment in tools, etc. 30 years experience.


How often do a home owner need to redo home table?

HIRE PRO, what them work their magic, and have peace of mind.

Its not going to be for sale and it will help you have OPTIONS on installers/ mechanics in your area. Or if you want to learn how to maintain youw own table: This is for YOU!

I would actually donate to something like that if the content actually helped me recover my own table. Case in point, the Diamond table I got two years ago had the cloth stretched in a zig zag fashion by a so called professional. Also when I tried to recover a previous table I had before this with championship tour felt, I had some tough times with the center pockets as I didn't really know what I was doing and had the felt too tight there first. I did get a perfectly even stretch though as I marked the felt first, unlike the so called professional that did my Diamond. Wish you luck on this, and I really wouldn't worry about it affecting your business in a negative way as there always will always be people that want a true professional to do their table, and are not comfortable doing something like this themselves. The trick is in getting a quality installer. I still believe that any manufacture of pool tables should require sellers of their tables be certified in the installation of their table and cloth by having the sellers attend a one day or more class at their facility.

Many times the so called "pro" is no better than what the table owner can do. I looked around my area for a "pro" to do my table, after seeing the quality of work available I bought a Simonis DVD and did it myself. My work turned out better than our local "pros". An informational DVD could/would teach a lot of "pros" how to correctly install cloth, using duct tape under the pockets to help hold the cloth on due to lack of prep and the use of spray adhesive is not what I would deem a professional job.

I am not against someone helping with crowd funding to create a NON-PROFIT to make this thing bullet proof. I think its time and I know I can help. I have done outreach with a non-profit and very familiar how a 501.c3 operates. Also, I have MONEY , TIME & Resources to invest in it.

I ponied up for the Simonis DVDs. Although I don't regret the purchase I have since been linked to some free YouTube vids that do a better job of detailing the process of clothing the rails. I haven't watched the table bed DVD yet, so I can't comment on that one.

I would certainly be interested in the new content.
