OB XL Uniloc 13.25mm thoughts.

Greetings, I am a newer player who is stuck in the equipment game. I have purchased several sticks both regular defection and low deflection.

I love the feel of my 13mm regular deflection shafts. However the low defection shafts are a bit more forgiving. The problem for me is most low deflection shafts are pro taper with diameters of 12.75 and lower.

Preferring a larger diameter shaft this has kept me away from the benifits of a LD shaft.

I came accross a OB XL doing a Google search. On the surface it seems that would (could) offer the best of both worlds, low deflection and the feel of regular (old school) shafts.

My current shooter is a Huebler bought it at a garage sale for $5.00. I love the feel but if high deflection is a thing this has it.

I have collection of Dale Perry' and a lucasi (Uniloc). Which seems to offer the closest hit of the Huebler. But make no mistake the Huebler hits very uniquely.

Anyone use a OB XL at 13 or 13.25mm?

Just wondering how you feel it hits compared to other more traditional shafts.

Thank you for your opinions

Bob.

Don't think that shaft is made any more. The Predator Vantage fits you bill. https://www.predatorcues.com/usa/pr...r-vantage-low-deflection-pool-cue-shafts.html

what lucasi is it? their (newer) shafts are LD too, but maybe not above 12.75mm

Its a 2005 Lucasi. Came with a regular defection shaft. And yes the lucasi LD shafts I found are 12.75 or smaller.

Have you spent some time with those smaller shafts to try them out? I don't like shafts under 12 really but there are some that I did not mind when I tried them. If you like how a standard shaft feels, the OB-1 shafts are great for that, they are more flexible feeling, although they are not longer made so you need to find an old stock one or a used one. They are under 13 mm though but the hit feel is very similar to a standard shaft.

Update.. I found several dealers with the Predator Vantage shafts for around $300. Neilsons billards had the shaft and a predator uniloc butt with wrap for $399. I pulled the trigger lol.

Thanks for the advice
Good deal. That shaft plays good.
