I think diamond would probably sell a 4 " pocket table to anyone that wanted one already. I know 4 1/8 is definitely available.

I guess it depends on what you mean by “the future of US pool”.

Professional or high level amateur tournament/action play, maybe. Play in the average pool room, or bar, hell no.

The vast majority of pool is played by bangers who play recreationally for pleasure, even if that includes some local league play. Those are the people on the tables, buying the drinks, eating the food, and paying the bills. If they aren’t having fun because they can’t pocket a ball, they’re going to go somewhere where they can have fun.
 
You need to work on polls. Those are all yes/no questions with no ability to answer. Word your choices as statements and let people choose their option, i.e.,
- I'm for 4" pockets.
- I think 4" pockets are a gimmick that will discourage new players.
- I like 5 1/2" buckets.

New players can choose to play in a easier table, good players can't find smaller pockets almost anywhere.
 
I assure you that almost all good players wanted to play in smaller pockets, the harder the challenge the sweeter it gets!!!!

According to FargoRate, There are about 30 600 rated players per 1 million population. Call it 10,000 in the entire US.

The last numbers I remember seeing from the BCA indicated something in the neighborhood of 20 million players in the United States.

That‘s one 600 rated player for every 2,000 pool players. I was wrong, it’s not an extremely small percentage. It’s minuscule…

Most likely not…. However nothing stays the same anymore. Tradition had died.
Not the same but in basketball .. the rim only gets tighter at a carnival. Should high level b-ball have a tighter rim?

Golf courses are differentiated by their wideness/narrowness, flatness/undulations, roughness/smoothness, trees/not trees, and many other things that I won't ramble on about.

Pool tables are flat, with 6 holes in uniform positions.

Your analogy is ridiculous. Why golf as a comparison anyway?
