Carbon Fiber Shafts should be Banned

i just got a pechauer rogue and I like it. It is known for not having that "ping" sound/feel that others have. The hit doesnt feel that much different than my old mcdermott g-core that i have played with for over a decade. I did notice that my rogue draws a lot easier. Allison fisher also said it is the best carbon fiber shaft she has used.

Slate? Cloth, sure... but tis gonna take more then a cueball and jump cue to dent the slate.
Yep, jumping balls doesn't hurt the slate. Cloth damage is another story altogether. Properly done it doesn't tear it but does leave burn-marks. Poorly done and you can tear expensive cloth. Seen it happen too often to count.

What is the shaft diameter of your Pechauer Rogue and what tip is on it?
Thank you

12.4 (their most popular), and its the tip that comes stock with it, I believe its called a pechauer jade tip.My g core was 13mm, and going down to the 12.4 wasn't that drastic of a change. I was nervous about the carbon fiber shaft being a huge learning curve, but i played strong with it the very first time. I like it.

keep a slop game?
get rid of chess for checkers ? lol
An 8 ball player & a 9' or 10' table ? There are undoubtedly some of these players who could adapt from 7' tables, but I promise you most of them would look pitiful. And on Diamond tables. I know . I grew up playing on 9'ers , i played 5 0r 6 years of league. I know what I'm talking about.

Masse shots are what hammers the cloth, not so much jump shots when you know how to play. The burn marks go away over time.

Hope all is well with you💪💪

The other day I got a chance to shoot with one of these pieces of crap, and all I can say is: UGLY.

I always knew that they looked ugly, but they also sound truly awful. My pool-loving soul recoiled at the very first impact of the cue against the cue ball, and that horrendous hollow "plink" sound.

Carbon fiber shafts and phenolic break tips are the aluminum baseball bats of pool - sure, they perform well, but they look like crap, they sound like crap, and they are a sign of everything wrong with billiards in America.

In England they have respect for tradition, and great snooker players make a lot of $$$ using snooker cues made out of real wood - no gimmicks, no B.S., no eyesores, and no plinking pieces of carbon fiber garbage.

I'd rather shoot with a broomstick than with a carbon fiber shaft.

Carbon fiber shafts should be banned from every money game - agree or disagree?
Ok boomer

Ive been around pool long enough and had my table recovered enough to know I'm right.... what about you... how may dented 'slatron' tables have you recovered?
That honeycomb plastic nylon slate Sears used to sell in the early 70’s might be what he’s referring to.

“Slate like material”

Not actual slate from a quarry

Just a guess.

I’ve thrown a ball hard as I can(I’m not Nolan Ryan) onto a old junk slate from a GC with no cloth, just to see if I could put a pit, divot or crack it. I used a old centennial ball that was worse out. All I did was make noise. Slate held up fine. I threw it a few times. Was just extra parts Jay and I had in inventory. If it had cloth-I’d bet I’d have made a hole in the cloth.

Slate is tough stuff

Best

Ok it did feel good to take some frustration out on a table lol.

Yeah it's really awesome for young people to have to spend a ton of money just to have a pool cue that can equal the performance of what serious players have, especially when there's a culture of betting, so that losing is not only an ego-bruiser, but a money-sucker. Most younger people can't even afford all this crap.

That's a great way to keep the game alive - stack the deck 50 feet high in favor of experienced players against anyone who has the temerity to take an interest in getting serious about playing pool.

I swear that American billiards is actively trying to kill itself.

you are wrong. How many tables have you recovered ?
I have recovered many of the areas bar tables. No evidence of what you have described. Why is it we haven't heard of this before this thread? If it was an issue, RKC would have pointed it out by now.

I'd like to see some tournaments where they make the players play on the old cloth and use 14 mm wooden shaft cues and play
push out, spot shot 9 ball.

Then you'd see who the men and the boys are. lol

My comment was 9 ball over 8 ball, chess to checkers, one sloppy one not.

size of the table isnt important a good player plays good on anything
ive played on all sizes and brands all my life
i know what im talkn bout

what if you are a good player on a bar table but not on a 9ft table ....

play a different game.

jump cues are the natural evolution by way of rotation games.

straight pool, one hole, banks....

hell, even playing 8 ball the need to jump is cut down to maybe 1/10th amount of instances.

if you wanna play 9ball, crazy unexpected things are going to happen. Thats the point of the game if im not mistaken?

or you can play 10ball, so whether the guy is kicking or jumping, the flukes dont help and in fact hurt the shooter when they go in an uncalled pocket (by way of the opponent having the option to give the shot back).
I think this is yet again a prime example of why i like seeing 10ball as a call-shot/call-safe game. Yes, its nitpicky, but isnt that the point of ten ball; remove as much luck as possible so that chance instances are less rewarding? If you want to play the chance game, we have 9ball.

Call shot call safe would eliminate most of the complaints made in this thread.

Jump cue, kick cue, machine cue, whatever.... youd care less what the other guy is using if those lucky hooks dont hurt you so bad.

just my 2c, you’re bringing this aggravation on yourself. if you cant stand to look at it, just... dont?
