Zimbabwe urges sale of stockpile of seized elephant ivory

Ive said this for years... have the goverments flood the market with the seized ivory at a way cheaper price. Then have that "official government sold ivory" certified similar to how pre-ban ivory is now in case it is resold later and identifiable from illegally poached ivory.

Then take the money made and help the schools, water, elephant control, or whatever said 3rd world country needs.
Then everyone on here will bitch their cues are now worth a fraction of the price they paid.

Nobody shoots with cues with ivory in them. As soon as another player finds out then the owner will be shamed to death. We area pass that point of 'wow look at the ivory in that cue'. We are at the point of shaming them and rightfully so.

You realize that elephants die natural deaths, right?

Do you understand why people poach? Because there’s profit in it. There’s profit in it because ivory as a commodity is relatively scarce. Take away that scarcity and the price point for ivory drops dramatically. So does the profit derived from poaching. When you remove most of the incentive to poach, the poaching drops dramatically.
You realize elephants live a really long time right? How long do you think it would Zimbabwe to stockpile that much ivory from elephants dying a natural death?

These guys feel the need to shoot down elephants and use the ivory for their chess pieces or piano pieces or even pool cues.

Just because they think it is pretty or it helps them become better pool player.

Carbon is the way to go as for equipment. I see fewer and fewer of these elaborate cues.

You realize that elephants have been around a long time, right?

The point being, there is already an enormous stockpile of ivory. It could be put on the market tomorrow. That’s the whole point of this thread. Sadly there are people who are so nearsighted in their thought process that they’re blind to the enormous benefit that would be derived from doing so.

Every cue that I own except one has ivory - almost every cue that I ever owned had ivory. I happen to enjoy cues for playability, construction quality, and the beauty of the natural woods. I also believe that nothing compliments natural woods like other natural materials such as ivory. I do not have knowledge of any of my cues being loaded with illegal ivory. Certain woods are now also unavailable due to restrictions - I have enjoyed cues with some of those woods as well. I have no knowledge of the woods being purchased illegally either.

A lot has changed over time- my wife has a mink coat that cost $10,000 almost 30 years ago- what is she supposed to do- burn it?

Yes people shoot cues with ivory- I do- I am supposed to be shamed by all of this? I don't think so.

The meat is very good too,

Tastes a lot like spotted owl…
Actually more like beef.

Zero protein goes to waste in Africa. The intestines are mostly edible as well and the fat makes great cooking oil. The only thing that really isn’t used on a elephant is the bones. This is assuming a legally hunted elephant or a PAC (problem animal control) animal. Poached jumbos are left to rot.

40-55 years in the wild. They die because their molars wear out and they effectively starve to death. They eat primarily thorn brush

Not long there are loads of jumbos in Zim.
