A week after taking lessons from a pbia master im worse?

i never needed or wanted an instructor ... sure i had a hard time running balls early on, but hell i stuck with it
you apparently are a natural
i would expect you are above average in many other sports if you play them
some are not so fortunate
open your mind to the fact that some people need help even if you dont

Maybe you would have gotten farther sooner with some guidance.

Yep. Will never know what could be. Are we really maxed out or could we take it higher.
I know a few people think hard work and putting time in will make a difference. They are the same level they’ve been for years. Nothing changed.

Fair enough. If you’re content case closed. Can’t argue with that. But why take it away from someone else.

Plenty of people want to ... You can fail with and instructor ... You have to have the heart to

Improvement comes from inside. Students need to have an idea of the craft and their 'symbiosis' with it - especially if there is already one going as in the case of the OP. Some people love the genre and take to it immediately. Some may only have curiosity and take longer before their being commits to a decision.
You get what you am.

Are we talking about playing your stroke instructor or strategy instructor. How about if you beat your instructor occasionally… I think that’s when you get your diploma. Aside from the thread is hi- jacked (I’m a part of that) I hope the OP sticks with it. He went to an instructor for a reason. To not use the instructors teachings is wasted time/money and back to where the player started out… in need of help. Yes some people can learn on their own. The OP (and myself) are not one of them.

depends ... how old is your instructor.... maybe he cant shoot any more and he is just repository of knowledge.... im just saying with pool first hurtle is making balls consistently. once you make balls everything else is creativity.

You’re reducing this to the lowest common D.
But Agreed to consistency. How does a beginning player or player with flaws develop consistency on their own. There are 2 kinds of players. Those that need professional instruction and those that don’t. Those that want it and those that don’t. Those that cannot figure it out on their own. Would you suggest they HAMB the wrong way each time or learn a system? You’re suggesting a good consistent stroke can be self taught. It certainly can. And it can’t.

The instructor is samm diep. Didn't know much about her other then a few you tube videos. Didn't see any opinions of her on here.

Contact Randy G. for an instructor or get his recommendations for your area. This is all he does. And he is as good as it gets. Do not give up on working with instructors. They are not created equal. World champion players are not necessarily the best stroke instructors.

i dont know ... good luck. most of the people i know HAMB .... they found what works they found what dont. finding what dont work is just as important as finding what does. getting an instructor and thinking this is the ticket to success is foolish. there are no royal roads to riches.... experience. i dont see how 1 cant shoot balls and learn how to make them and them build from there. all of this you have to stand this way pivot that way .... its all a crock

if your not comfortable at the table your not going to make balls..... find a stance comfortable ... work on a straight follow through ... and just work at it

Some/most players cannot correct their own mistakes. Can you learn to play an instrument or read music on your own. Not apples to apples however…. Did you get educated on your own or by teachers. Can you figure most things in life out
