Has anyone installed a permanent rubber wrap?

I'm looking to change my break cue's linen wrap to rubber for better snap on the break. I haven't heard of anyone that installs a rubber wrap.
Any advice or places to get a nice rubber wrap with some texture? Thanks!
 
I have a bicycle inner tube glued into the wrap groove on my breaker. :ROFLMAO:
It's not pretty, but it gets the job done. The grip is great.
 
Search for "rod wrap", I know charkbait has a selection. It is designed to wrap saltwater fishing rod butts. The stuff sticks to itself and is easy to apply. It is similar to a tennis racket wrap when applied. It can also be easily removed and replaced. Costs around $20.
 
Atlas, Tiger, Longoni.... offer rubber wrap grips that you roll on. They aren't intended to fit into a groove. They are very grippy. They're popular with 3C players.

A nice leather with grip to it will do the trick just fine.
But if you do decide on rubber, check the thickness before you cut that wrap groove deep. Based on rubber wraps from numerous brand names, the rubber thickness is ridiculously thick.
 
And then there's the silicone option. This is available in Europe but there must be a similar one in the U.S.

My case is segmented. I've had a rubber (I think that it's actually silicone) wrap on my carom cue for 5+ years.
A wrapped cue pressed snugly into a tube type case would be a disaster if it unrolled inside the tube.
 
Thank-you guys for all of the responses! The inner tube is a cool, resourceful idea. I'm looking for a permanent wrap that will look good, have texture, and lie at least close to flush, resembling the production break cue wraps these days. I agree that the sleeves are an easy way to get some good grip without any hassle but that is not what I'm looking for personally. I like this cue, so I'm not interested in flipping for a different cue. I'm confident that installation of these wraps will be more common in future years but I'm kind of surprised that I can't find anyone on the internet that does them, considering how popular they are.
 
The rubber sleeves work temporarily, but if you're breaking hard they will move and/or tear pretty easily.

Has anyone tried heat shrink tubing? To me it seems like a no brainer. Good texture and will conform to a cue perfectly.

If someone tries this, I wonder if you should use the one with or without the adhesive liner?
 
Here is the sleeve I'm talking about to make easier to put rubber wrapped cues in your case. It's got a slippery lining in it.

I've been using rubber a couple decades. Of course longevity depends on how much you play.
With daily play they breakdown in 8 months to a year.
You're asking for a "permanent grip" For that I'd recommend something like Nitrile rubber or something Very good Oil Resistance.
