Chip/SVB score

Is anyone actually surprised lol. This is just "Chip/Gorst 2.0"
I think that's a bit of a stretch, Gorst won by 12. But if you or anyone else wants Shane from here giving 7 games I'm your man up to a c note. I get I'm unknown so have no problem posting via paypal venmo etc.

I don't need your money, man. Give it to Chip, he'll need it more than either of us!

Fair enough brother. I just wanted some Chip action and this seemed like the best time to get the odds I'd want to do it. You have a solid point, moving and banking can only do so much against an opponent that never misses. Maybe I'm just nostalgic for the old times. Offer still stands for anyone else though.

So you want to bet that Chip only gets beat by a lot and not by a whole lot? Bold move! 😂

These matchups remind me of the older players in pool halls who lose to you at rotation or refuse to play you at rotation but then say I'll play you one pocket.

What on God's green earth makes you think you'll be better than me at one hole when I stomp you at rotation?

Now there is an element of knowing the game and being able to move that comes into the game.

When I had hardly ever played one hole and DID NOT know the game at all really and went to fatboy's house I played Bobby cotton and he'd only play me one hole and he did edge me out, but we're talking about someone here who has won back to back dcc one hole titles, one of only 3 people to have ever done so. Why would chip think his moving ability would give him enough of an edge to make a difference here?

Sometimes a guy can surprise himself, it could happen. If it's not his $... He doesn't make the game?
More about the guy putting up the $ than the player.

Are you thinking of some other event? Bobby Cotton (Robert LeBlanc) has never won a DCC event.

[and 4 players have won back to back one-pocket events there]

I was referring to Shane vs Chip, not me and bobby leblanc...

I think as recently as 2000-2005 there was still a knowledge edge that allowed second tier pros who specialized in one pocket to be competitive.

Several things have changed since then. One big factor has been Youtube and other technologies that make strategies that used to be trade secrets public knowledge. Another thing is that one pocket has become much more mainstream with many more tournaments and fields that are now international.

I'm a big fan of Chip and Tony. I think they are outstanding at one pocket and possess an amazing mix of mental fortitude and a deep understanding of how to win money matches. When facing the striking of a top 5 player rocking an 825+ Fargo Rate, however, it's hard to see them getting the best of it.

There are exceptions of course. Tony took a set of Dennis a few years back, and I know he has given SVB a hard time. Chip beat Gomez a couple of years ago as well (although Gomez isn't Filler). But while I can point to exceptions, they are called exceptions for a reason. The vast majority of the time the better striker is going to have an edge in a world where the knowledge gap has shrunk.

So how do you think Chip and SVB would play 9 Ball? So maybe chip thought that his 9 Ball game was only the 7 below SVB so he could out move him and only be slightly out shoot by him?

I think people would be shocked if anyone asked a pro and heard their response to if they had learned anything off YouTube. They'd probably respond "what's that".

Maybe it is just an exhibition being dressed up as something else.

You don't think that before Filler played T-Rex or before Fedor played Chip they had never studied the matches of their opponents to develop a game plan? They just screwed their cues together and asked what the rules were?

I remember seeing a picture of Filler studying the one pocket book by Tom Wirth when he was staying at Roy's basement.
