Are bar tables hurting the game

No, I would sat that it gains “pool” players. Ever so often you get banger with the drive to better themselves, and they want to beat all the people in the bar. They get their big boy pants on, and go to a pool hall with real players, bigger tables, and learn to really play the game and gain enough knowledge to eventually beat everyone at the bar.

I would say that probably 99% of the members In this forum have no issues being the winner in a bar all night.

BAR tables. Darts, board games. All activities to entertain people in a social setting. Bars have limited room. 2 bar tables instead of 1 larger table. Bar leagues keep people in the bar. Makes money and entertains people. Don’t like it ? Go to a pool hall. Pool hall owners who bitch about bar tables don’t understand the concept of running a business to maxim $$$$. That’s why many pool hall owners struggle to survive. Why not say people should not play checkers, it bad for chess. Don’t like go to a pool hall.
Go to super billiards expo. 10 big tables. 300 bar tables. The expo struggles to fill seats in main arena. Look at the 1000’s playing and watching bar table pool. Ruining the games? Or making money? Don’t like like go to a pool hall. I don’t like spinach. I go around bitching about people who eat spinach I order corn.
DONT LIKE IT GO TO A POOL HALL
LOL !
Joel I Love Spinach & Look what it did for Popeye

The app said, and I quote , "Preventing pro players from performing where they belong (9ft)."

The point I was trying to make is it is just as easy, or just as hard, to hit a 5-in pocket at 7 ft, as it is 4 1/4 inch pocket at 5 ft. The difficulty is the same in my opinion.

The first time we actually played games on our 9-ft, I had two break and runs back to back. I have never in my life been able to do that on a 7 ft. And yes I do have a witness. So yes, I think the game of 8 ball is easier on a 9-ft table, if you can control the cue ball, which that day I did.
You are picking your spots. Lets take Diamond as the standard. Pocket size. shelf and cut are the same for both models. Your 5" inch GC analogy doesn't hold water. In fact most BB come if aforementioned 5" pockets. The owner/operators are incentivized to make games go quickly. More games/hr = more $/hour = more beer/hr = more $/hr.

If bar Boxes were good for the game then USA would be dominant.

Everyone is right!!!!! the only problem that I have is that, how come is so hard to find a decent 5th player for Mosconi, if it would be played in bar tables, we would have had at least 3 Very competitive teams, that is a big problem.

Just saw this huge Calcutta in a bar table tournament(48k), is this actually hurting the sport? Preventing pro players from performing where they belong (9ft).
The Pro's all have tables in there homes and play on them all the time, they dont practice on bar box's, so if they cant beat anybody else in the world it aint the tables.

If you took all the american players to europe to qualify for the mosconi team none would make it other than SVB. If you took all of them to the Philippines to gamble they'd all get broke other then SVB, so if SVB can win on any table in any country it aint the tables, its the palyers.

I tend to agree,

I just think it's a mental weakness in American players of all levels they need something to blame, chalk, tip, shaft, balance point, joint type, table size, cloth, balls, rack

Literally anything but the shitty stroke and loathing of practice that actually causes all of their problems..

It's sad really, but hey people are making tons of money off of them..

Bar v/s Full Sized Tables is not Pool biggest problem.

I could make a list that is long.

First item is too many groups like APA, BCAPL, TAP, etc. imho only one needed. Too many set of Rules, again only one needed.

JMHO

And.... zero competition causes it's own problems, DOESN'T it?
