Maybe a rule that prohibits getting down on a specific shot more than once (second time must execute the shot)?. THAT is what is most ‘excruciating‘ about the slowest competitors. I’ve been thrown out of poolrooms more than once when they closed before the game was over.Slow players should be penalized instead of forcing the gifted players to slow down. It's excruciating playing slow players with their pre-shot routines.
You gotta tell me where to play all these fools that are so easy to throw off and get into their heads. I mean, I've seen nuff mental midgets that go on tilt if you fluke one ball...usually they won't play for more than $5 tho lol.See your doing it the opposite way, Nothing wrong with that. I've had demons throw off my tempo, I went slow and messed with their tempo.
There is more to pool then just putting balls in the pocket. You put a guy at a table he don't like, Cueball type, game negation etc. and you already won by getting in his head.
Also, I think once you start the walking motion towards your next shot to where you stand behind the cueball you must stop and execute the shot. If you move again its "travelling." This will eliminate that annoying habit of where players walk behind the object ball first to get an idea of the shot....THIS ISN'T GOLF...as far as I know the table is flat so this is pointless! What's next? Grabbing some lint from the cloth and toss it to see which way the wind is blowing?? Ha. Good to know you play on pristine, true-rolling tables. Sometimes u just need to get that read of the breakI think once you start the walking motion towards your next shot to where you stand behind the cueball you must stop. Exactly zero times. Also I have painted over my diamonds. How many times have you played shape to a spot only to get there and realize you'd be better off a diamond over?
Using them is basically cheating. Can‘t see them anyway once you’re down on the shot.
String musicians playing classical instruments likely have that same talent, but I‘d even be lost without the fret markers on a guitar neck, though I DID once play trombone in the H.S. band (requiring the same combination of feel/pitch talent as those who play fretless instruments).
The diamonds just help me to visualize the angles quicker.
For 9B I agree. I like that game. Longer races to level out the luck and because it’s fast paced longer races are possible.
Like shooting a safety in 8b.Using them is basically cheating.![]()
Must make for some interesting conflict when deciding where the kitchen begins (or where the footspot belongs).Exactly zero times. Also I have painted over my diamonds.
In 30 years of playing I’ve heard players say they play slow to hurt a faster playing player like 1000 times lol I bet you also believe politicians love you and want only the bestYou’re right. It’s more than 90%.
I have played a LOT of pool for 30 years and have mixed it up with a wide range of players from amateur to pro. I have NEVER once heard anyone suggest playing slow deliberately to throw their opponents off their game.
What i have heard are players talking about not feeling pressured to speed up just because their opponent plays faster. But that is all about playing their best, not sharking.
It’s like dumping matches. It does happen, but about 1/1,000th as often as it gets talked about or speculated about on this forum.
The truth is that the quick players who complain about slow players are simply using talk of sharking as an excuse to justify their hostility.
If you believe slow play is bad for pool, fine. If you believe a shot clock will help grow the game, fine. But make your arguments based on reality, not on an entitlement to have everything the way you want it or on a fictitious deliberately slow playing conspiracy.

Ninja turtles are real.I have also played pool for 30 years and promise I have more hours logged. Are you calling me a liar?
I can only speculate we play in such different circles that there is zero overlap. There must be some nit island out there I've never seen where people have secret training camps on how to try to shark each other. I haven't been there.
I've learned this all too well. If only I could talk to my younger self and had never been lured into the foot clan...Ninja turtles are real.
Not extremely relevant (mental masturbation?), but just as an adjunct:String musicians playing classical instruments likely have that same talent, but I‘d even be lost without the fret markers on a guitar neck, though I DID once play trombone in the H.S. band (requiring the same combination of feel/pitch talent as those who play fretless instruments).
Like the slightly out of tune strings, diamond systems can be slightly off on any given table and even change on the table as humidity in the room changes. U gotta hit around before a match and adjust to the table, then the system works fine. Diamond tables bank/kick short vs gold crowns and most others as an example.I suppose, if all pool tables/conditions were exactly the same (no differences in cloth/balls/rubber/etc.), then the diamonds on the rails might be more valuable. Likely, sometimes their existence COULD even be detrimental. I have to wonder, how many 3 or 4 rail banks I’ve missed because I went by the diamonds instead of my experience/instincts (?).
