FUZZ ON BALLS

There's a reason I asked how the balls are cleaned. A fellow AZB'er (can't recall who) had a homemade bucket polisher with either a timer or speed controller (can't recall which) wired in. Anyway, when he wired it up, he didn't ground it which was causing the balls to have static and they were getting dusty on the table. I recommended he ground his unit and it fixed the issue.
A man's gotta stay grounded in life. ;)

Fuzzy Ball Syndrome or FBS had plagued pool players through the years and there’s no known cure. Sadly we as pool players don’t get the support of the government for this most serious of conditions.

I think we should start a gofundme for this cause today! Black Friday and help and support our brothers who are most effected by this devastating condition.

Of course the save the orange 5 is more important, but we certainly can’t over look this either.

Open your hearts and checkbooks and help!!

Thanks

Had this happen to a mid-grade tournament cloth on my basement table.
My fix was to spray starch (about 18 in. above the table) the cloth wait a couple mins then medium-low heat, iron it.
It lasts about a year before needing another coat.
Doesn't change the color as long as you keep the iron moving.

How slick did that bad boy play? Is it funny for a while?

Slightly slick at first but after several doz games it was basically the way it was B4.
OH, I used a soft hair brush to pull up the nap a little.
This was mid 1990s, forgot a few details.
.
I had doz players over on Fri nites, no one said it was slick or grabby, but they did like the little extra roll speed.
Made is a higher grade cloth, tho not Simonis.

I was the one with a home made diamond style polisher. Yes I had massive static at first. The static was so bad, the balls wouldn't rack tight, and would make my hair stand on end when picking up the balls after polishing. The fix was to add a grounding wire from the motor to two spots on the plastic rim where the carpet attached, and add a rehostat to slow down the speed somewhat. Was originally spinning so fast that the balls were warm when done cleaning. With the ground wires, and slower speed now, zero static, rack tight, and are cool comming out of the polisher.
Also, I know everyone has their favorite cleaner, and I've tried about 5 different ones, including Aramith, but I've finally found the one I'm staying with. Balls come out spotless, with a depth of color noticeably better than all the rest.

When I brush the table at our center I have noticed the balls become covered with lint...mainly the cue ball . I would bet this is because of static electricity ,

It’s even more dire when it’s your orange 5-ball that’s fuzzy. If your purple 5-ball is fuzzy, well, it deserves it.
