Slate issue

Hello all!! New to the forum. Just acquired an old Gold Crown III 5x10 snooker table, it was free. When we went to pick it up the middle piece of slate has a piece broke off, I assumed happened when the gentleman put it in storage, table has been in storage for years. My question: is this something that can be filled in after all the pieces are put together?

A friend of mine acquired Ted Elias's table. The slate was broken worse then yours. Down the middle of one of the slates. They used an adhesive designed for slate. (Edit... It was a product for use with marble). Got it at a masonry and countertop store. It bonded very well and it plays fine. They did a good job.

I just do work on my own tables but if me I'd use Bondo to repair it if the piece is totally gone, other wise as mentioned glue it back together

Thank you for the replies!! The piece is missing. When the slates are together I don’t believe it will be that big of a spot.

When I get everything ready to assembly I am planning to hire someone to do it.

I believe my next step is to remove the cloth from the rails and see what condition the cushions are in.

I would perform that repair before assembly. Bondo should work fine.

I recommend talking to a contractor that deals with marble countertops. They have experience in dealing with broken stone.
They will give you viable options.

Glen asked me to give you his phone number. Call him and he'll tell you what to do.
