Jumping the cue ball off the rail

While jumping the cue ball is extremely popular and effective in 9 and 10 ball, I haven not seen much written on technique. While the HAMBB method is the usual starting point, I'd like some members to share their techniques of shooting into rails to bounce over interfering object balls.

Some of the variables are: different cloth, brand of tables, cue balls, elevation of cue, etc.

A high hit on the cb will make it hop pretty good. Rarely does this come into play. Just have to experiment with it. Not hard to do.
