So the folks at the billiards Reddit think AZB is toxic, but they come up with gems like this that had 14 upvotes already.

Question was "why does the tip look funny and not shaped, it is normal?'

Answer: "It's a hard stock tip used to protect the ferrule in transit. Best to cut it off and have it replaced."

Someone actually thought they put on temporary tips to ship the cue/shaft with to protect the ferrule and expect the buyer of a $50 cue to be able to replace it when it arrives, and 14 people thought that was a good enough answer for a bunch of positive votes.

Me too, I was going to suggest just buying the index funds. But to wait another year before doing so to let this interest rate debacle hopefully wash out of the stock market.

I saw it too. I usually ignore the stupid. /r/billiards has some good folks who know what they are talking about, some well meaning ones that don't, and some idiots.

The answer is to scuff the tip with a tip scuffer or some sandpaper. Notice they say hard tips are bad. BS. Tip hardness is a preference and if you have the stroke for it and the chalking habits a hard tip is great.

I just love the crisp hit of a harder tip. I think it makes me more aware of how hard I'm hitting and therefore encourages a softer stroke.
