What would I do? For starters have leagues at least 4/5 nights a week since those players actually spend money and play pool every week. They would be regulars and spend money regularly but this guy is so hell bent on bashing his main clientele he runs them off. He is living in some fantasy world. I'm sorry that is just bad business. If you want to own a poolroom and have no leagues I don't see a viable business model. Sorry SBC it just doesn't make sense.

Look at Snookers in Providence RI for a successful business model (also in the Northeast). They run a professional room for professional players but also cater to league players and the college crowd. They kill it!

I don't play league
I didn't do this for league
I never needed their money
If I hosted APA it was only to break the room up the road.
My wife abd I made 240k last year...none off the room except tax writeoff losing 130k income, netting 27k in money. My total taxes were under 4k
You want to say I lost which is comical.

All legit, all how every big company does it.
So how's that Mr. Self Appointed Businessman.

Next fall I make a 4 to 6 table club. Members only. Put up my money, break even or not and play real pool. I would have done that where I was, but landlord wouldn't rent the back half where the big tables were.

I built a 17 table room with a 15k start.
Bought out 19 tables and everything that survived the fire.

Come fall. Scoop up tables cheap, and do it again.

I'll set aside a starter set from this room; magnetic fingerprint lock, security cameras, ball sets, signs, safe, cue lockers and wall tables. Already have a non profit social organization Syracuse Billiards Club.

After next 6 months of fighting to get in the other place and paying ridiculous rates....the boys might see the light.

I'm $55,200 proud and kept room.open 24 months longer. Total relief $268k...maybe next time they want to shut down the world, they will reconsider.
