Rita Chou(Chou Chieh Yu) fouled trying to masse over, please don't tell me she didn't notice like in Kaci/Capito scenarios...
The first thing any player look for in this situation is whether they made successful contact or not.

Yea she failed to get out... so it didn't affect the outcome of that rack. but still...

Is it Really solely ref's responsibility? But pool's worlds' ref sucks by any other sports standard, else every player would try to cheat and get away with it like in basketball or football/soccer.

Should we employ hawk eye like in Snooker, Tennis, and Badminton?
And allow players to challenge questionable shots?
But then opponents would have to be allowed to stand up and watch you shoot, would players like Mika be okay with that?

I mean this is not just about player integrity anymore... this shot was so obvious that not only the commentator noticed, but pretty much all the audience...
Imagine this happen multiple times when our viewership actually gone up significantly after matchroom worked their arse off after few years, how can the general public take this game seriously with this standard?

wow how did she not see that? or did she, and neglect to call the foul on herself? where was the ref tho geez.....

Hmmmmmm lets see....who was the ref....oh well if it isn't the man who blows about 3 calls a tournament.

Isn't it the ref's job to say BIH and give the player the ball after wiping it with his cotton gloves?

I don't see the player doing anything wrong, she saw it fouled but it's not her job to hand the ball the the incoming player. Incoming player should have called for a ref. I've had people foul on me before but the CB ended up in a nice spot, I just didn't say anything and shot it. It could be the incoming player did just that.

Leyman was off screen when the foul occurred. Maybe he was in the bathroom or grabbing a beer? Hard to imagine where he could be standing to not see the cueball or nine ball.

he also prevents fouls! (mäkkonen vs yoshioka w8b 2022)

re this incident, i'm giving her the benefit of the doubt. it was a massé shot with cue raised high, and from her POV the marginal movement of the 9-ball may not have been noticed

He should have been in one of two places. Neither of which was where he was. He's "supposed" to be the sports premier official. All I see repeated mistakes. Everyone can blow a call. In his case he's constantly in the wrong position or missing what is going on. Quite frankly if you understand the physics of the game you know where to be.

He obviously does not. He's always on the wrong side of a call. One day he's going to make a monumental blunder and effect a big money final. If it didn't look so mean spirited I would start a poll. Not that I would expect a change. Nigel could spot JL the 5 ball and 4 on the wire. 20 years of watching this guy he never blew a call and knew how to handle a crowd.

This was a semi final match? Was there more then one referee? Maybe he was racking at the other table at the time? I could hear a break shot in the background just after this foul. Or am I the only one that caught this?

From this video, i cannot tell if the referee was even at the table on this shot. If no referee is present, then it's up to the sitting player to call the foul. Yes, the shooter should have/could have called a foul on herself, but it's not required.

Nope...just standing in the wrong place and not attending to his job.

If those are his shoes, that's good enough for me. They way the one foot is raised on the heel, it looks like he is sitting in a chair.

As to the players defense I have missed fouls like that that I have committed because your eyes are on the object ball or cue ball and you just don't see that ball wobble. Heck, I even had to be told by a team mate that a ball didnt fall, I was lining up my next shot and never even noticed that the previous ball was still on the table. The ball was headed right for center pocket down the rail at pocket speed and was deflected by a piece of chalk, it just stayed up buried in the jaws. But there is absolutely no doubt that this should have been caught by the ref.

Even if the ref missed it, at that level, I can’t believe she didn’t call it on herself. She had to know if it was the livestreamed match that everybody else was going to see it was an obvious foul.

I guess there’s a chance if she was completely focused on the cue ball through her stroke and follow through, she might have possibly missed seeing it.
