Save it or Trash it?

Would it be possible to change the brown stain (only) on this cue to grey during a re-finish? I want the points to remain natural. Trying to replicate the cue my now passed on father bought me for christmas in 1997 that was later destroyed in a "don't you dare leave me!" incident with a girl in college.

Last time I talked to mcdemott about it they said a color change was possible but I don't think they saw the cue. They charge $375ish to refinish - can a cuemaker either do it cheaper or better for the same $$?

Wish List:
- Refinish obviously
- everything that is currently brown outside of the points to gray
- points\veneers\rings unchanged
- grey wrap
- new\correct butt plate
- Joint work as needed
- new shaft using these rings

That's a large ask for $375. If McDermott will do it for that, I'd go that way. A full refinish with new wrap, new shaft, new rings, etc., is a lot of work.

McDermott, they have the expertise needed, and they will make it look brandnew! If it's very important to you, then don't go cheap, you will regret it.

375? I would do it .... you have people spending stupid money .... STUPID MONEY .... on southwest cues...

mcdermott cues are great cues ... 375 isnt bad at all and that would be a nice-looking cue when finished.

$375 seems kinda cheap with a color change. I would probably expect for them to go Whoa when they get it and want more. I would be a little concered on some of the dings, from the pictures it looks like it might of hurt more then the finish.

I don't know if McDermott does color changes, you need to call them and explain everything you want done. You may need to go to Proficient Billiards for this project
