Jayson Shaw First Contracted Pro on WNT

Huh?? WPA has no money itself. JOY tables puts up the $$ for that Heyball. They don't have as much $$ as MR and their partners.

I always assumed the Chinese government subsidized all these heyball tournaments (another reason why it’s here to stay).

Its possible for sure. No way to ever know that. STAR and JOY have their own events with JOY being the WPA tour.

there are two competing outfits, one calling it heyball and one c8b. in the background of each is a private business (table manufacturer). don't know if either is getting govt support, but i assume the ad revenue for heyball is big, as one only has to tap into a small percentage of the chinese TV public to make seriously good money. the long commercial breaks are annoying, but the chinese are probably used to it. i can see the game growing in chinese migrant communities in south east asia but not much beyond that.

Matchroom manages nineball.

Star and Joy manage 8 ball

Predator (Rasson) does the global leg work

Pocket pool has all the signs for a economic boom.

Matchroom wants people involved in making contracts for different parts of the world. A legal framework takes time to map out. Not all contracts will be based from US or one organization. Its a community effort.

Similar to how youtubers get paid, the rules vary a lot and pro legal people are needed to process the documents. Imagine being a contracted player in Russia right now, what rules for paying are a challenge versus can be broken or bypassed?

I honestly don't know why anyone thinks snooker style pockets (with the rounds) are any good. They take away half the shots. Pool is so much more exciting simply due to that. It fosters aggressiveness.

If MR keeps on their path, I think 9 Ball Pool will trump Snooker, Chinese 8 ball, and any other billiards discipline in every measure. It might take 10 years, but it can happen. Filler may reach Ronnie money and celebrity status. He has the skill, the emotion, and the family angle. I think MR is looking at this. They are looking at their Snooker product, which is a niche in worldwide Billiards sports, and then looking at American style pool. They know Pool is a better game, and they can grow it to surpass Snooker.

No reason why not!
It's down to both the players and MR to make it happen...

It's a game of moves and strategy. Think 8b blended with 1pkt.

Chinese 8b has a massive following. Strictly going by viewership numbers. Surpassing it will be a feat in of itself

Exactly.
When it comes to C8ball, many forget that China is a singular market of it's own and self sustainable.

History may show that players like Gareth Potts are western Pioneers of cuesports.

Going to China to compete can only be beneficial to those who are good enough and strong minded enough to go...

The Chinese 8ball angle won't fly in the states. We can't get most rooms to spare the space for 9 foot tables as it is. More tables/sq. ft., more money.
Not just the space but the game itself. Very hard, slow game. Average recreational players would never play it. Hell, you can't get players to play on a 9ft with buckets much less snooker pockets. Just curious as to how much Ch8b some have watched. I've tried to watch on several occasions and usually quit pretty quik. Its a very tight, restrictive style of pool. Very little room to cheat pocket so the game is played in a very conservative mode. The guys/gals DO shoot straight as hell but its just not very entertaining. The worst part, and yes i've hammered it before, is the length of matches along with the retarded match-length clock. Ridiculous.

C8ball doesn't need the American market to thrive and succeed.
Don't worry about that. It will never catch on in the US. Doubt that it gets much traction in Europe either. Maybe a bit more due to the number of snooker/blackball players. To get more non-Asians to watch they need to shorten the matches and ditch the 140min-or-else time limit. Sorry for the thread-jack. Back to exciting stuff like contracts. ;)

You're probably in the 1% minority. 8 ball is the most boring game, even worse than one pocket. Call shot 10 ball is pretty bad too, it takes away all the luck. If they did 10 ball by 9 ball rules, that's good.

Respectfully, and IMO:)
I prefer 10ball because I do not think any World Championship should be determined by luck.
There is NO WAY 99% of pool fans would rather see 9ball than 10ball.
No one should win off the break either, if we're being serious.

No worries, different strokes for different folks. I highly doubt I am in the 1% minority though.

I was replying to a post about US rooms buying CH8B tables. Not gonna happen.

I agree.
But the thread is more related to the global development of MR and 9ball against it's competitors... With C8ball as one.

So I agree with you that the market for C8ball tables in America will be very small. It still won't have an effect on the growth of C8ball worldwide because it is not solely reliant on the American market.

Curious as to where all this 'non-Asian' market growth is going to take place. This game has been around quite a while and even with a couple of events with big payouts not much has happened. They've held qualifiers in other countries, including L.A. 5yrs ago, but other than that not much expansion has taken place. All Asia/China-centric. JOY/WPA are shooting for Olympic status. Good luck is all i can say.

C8b sounds like a great test for simulating pool tournaments digitally.

My AI script vs your bot to fight for ratings and online user interaction during the match through commentary.

How many people can spot the difference? How many places can a pro C8b be at one time?

Fk AI. Fk bot pool. NO ONE gives a shit, except you maybe, about AI-driven digital bot-pool. NO ONE. Please go troll somewhere else.

Fk AI. Fk bot pool. Please go take your meds and leave the rest alone.

I know the people pioneering that tech. And that was decades ago with lower computing power.

Who is really in charge of the house?

When do the women get signed?

Who is supplying the materials for Emily Frazer custom outsourced fashion outfits? She might need some models to show her different looks for the MR locations.

Emily also should have a better lighting and photography team. Get some vets to train her people or whatever they want.

Integrating women's business into pool is the next step for Emily. Matchroom's biggest star. Can Emily handle a catwalk?
