Cue stick’s wooden thread threads nowhere. What is missing?

Goodwill Stores' website is selling a cue stick for $23 that seems to be missing a part. The photos show the butt end with a male wooden joint but I can’t tell where it threads into. The second piece is the shaft with a male thread (the shafts split and nailed together!!!). The third, the middle piece, has a male end and a female end. What does the male wooden joint connect to? Is there something missing here?

Although the photo shows a one-piece butt, does it really disconnect into two pieces?

About how old might this cue be?

What kind of cue is this? Might the cue be worth more than $23?

Looks like a cheap Import.
What is missing is the Brass joint which is also threaded to accept the shafts. Usually an undersized 3/8x12 thread.
