He commissioned Mr. Searing when Searing was just starting out and needed money for two cues, a simple player and an expensive dynamite. He doesn't play anymore, can't because of his age and and well he just wanted to get this cue sold after finding it unplayed in his house for so long.

Cool bar find for me!
Yea you see this often. I’ve seen another very plain Searing too. It had fancy ring work on what looks to be a sneaky Pete. Someone was selling it on behalf of the owner who was an elderly lady.

Good for you! I hope all turns out well.

it’s definitely no one’s business what the tracking is. Couple concerns could be… it’s very easy to provide tracking for a box. It doesn’t guarantee there’s anything in that box (I’ve been scammed this way before). also the original poster has not responded to any of the uneasiness people are showing here. I think members just don’t want to see a fellow member get ripped off. Chances are you got a great cue at a great price! But circumstances deff leave room for worry.

Yup, no offence to anyone but the scams have become so prevalent, everyone's first belief needs to be it's a scam until proven otherwise. Even reputable members have had their accounts hacked and posted from so we need to be suspicious and cautious of everything. I've probably been a target of ten AZ related scammers in the past year or so. They haven't got me yet.

Another thing to keep in mind and keep us paranoid is these lowlife creeps lay awake nights thinking of new and more sophisticated ways to scam us. I wish they would just get jobs.

also most scams will provide a legitimate tracking number so you have no recourse with whatever money transfer agency (PayPal Venmo)you used to recover your funds. Basically if they see tracking then the case is closed.

No one here has any business asking a buyer here to show everyone the tracking number of a purchased cue. Maybe the buyer was the first here to recognize what looked like a good purchase and he pulled the trigger- and maybe the seller is just a guy looking to just get his money back on a very old cue purchase - keeping cues in line with the seller’s personal vision of affordability.
Good for the buyer if this all works out - Even though it is a Searing - it is basically a house cue with a very old Searing shaft. Probably overpriced in terms of comparable players anyhow- if one gets real about what the cue actually is in fact.
This furor over some makers has gotten insane- a guy on eBay is asking over $10K for GB titilist conversion cue - which is basically a Willie Hoppe cue with an old GB shaft.

It may be a scam but for the amount spent, half you guys hating on it would spend that on gambling and scratch offs and then wonder why you can’t rub 2 nickels together. Also the only person that needs to see a tracking number besides the two in the transaction is noneya or for those of you still trying to understand, nunya

I hope the OP gets the cue. It's a good find.

Like I said before I've seen these conversions before and it is usually the wife's cue. The husband probably got himself a really nice Searing and to match or make his wife happy, he gets one for her. It's usually some conversion or sneaky type. The ones I've seen have nice ring work and his logo. That's about it.

The only issue I have is the picture looks to be a purple heart cue but described as tulipwood. I've had both and purple heart and tulipwood couldn't look any more different. It could be the lighting.

HA HA very true- but you don't have to be a gambler these days to flush money down the toilet- just watch people at Starbucks with their $8 coffee creations- does not take much of that stuff to blow thru the $700 for this cue!

I think I build a pretty good cue now after a decade but I wouldn't want to shoot with my first ones now.

Hope there's more going on with that cue than just some guy's name on it.

It's not a 3k cue, but ok
Easy 3k.

A quick refinish and a letter of authenticity from Dennis explaining what went into the cue as a young cue maker. Boom.

I’ve seen one like this with ring work go 3.5

You’re knowledgeable with cues. You should know all cues are not worth it. Name, goodwill and reputation determines value and of course what is someone willing to pay.
