Bert Kinister was an encyclopedia of practical pool. The series cost too much at the time so I moved on. Picked up some trivia from a buddy who did buy in though.
Always been stubborn like that. Have this attitude that where I'm at is where my work is.

One of THE worst bar brawls i've ever seen was over nitty 8b rule shit. Guys were playing for like 5/game and ended up in the parking lot. everything but guns were in play. Insanity.

What amazes me is how fast that shit can escalate!!
Toss alcohol and pride in the mix - Boom!!

This is almost unrelated but pool related. Half a dozen or so guys started arguing over some unknown thing. I forget who was swinging on whom but the master stroke was this one skinny guy took his wall cue and instead of trying to club the one guy they had ganged on, he held the stick by the ferrule in his finger tips and gave it a graceful twirl around his head and landed the butt right on the guys temple. Guy went down instantly; end of skirmish.
Cue went undamaged.

I was vacationing in Florida back in the mid 70"s and popped unto a bar for a beer. Some guy asked me to play and I said sure and I can play and what are you're rules. We we're playing $5/game and I had him stuck $200 and when he missed the cue swinging started and he was getting hot. He was wearing steel capped cowboy boots and I swear he was sharpening the caps lol so I let him win his money back and I bailed. I wasn't about to get a cue in the head or the s...t beat outta me

Well. I’m d you demonstrate a certain savoir-faire in front of the knuckle draggers they have no choice but to assume you know what you’re saying. Especially if you’ve already strung together more than 4 balls in a run.

Yeah, you can almost feel when there's to much testosterone in the air and know some stupid stuff if about to happen. It's like when a gas leak reaches the explosive limit abs a small spark will set it off.

Wow. Some times I see people who want to play for $50 a rack and think "this person does not have $50/rack skills", but I've never seen someone be 40 games down.

I had no idea he was going to go on that long and with the beers he was downing I think he might've lost track. Who knows what he was thinking. At first I didn't care till he started steaming. I loved playing 6-red snooker back in the day and had steady $5 action. I didn't need bigger action.
