Shaft support on mini lathe

I might be able to get a mini lathe on the cheap to try out some tip and ferrule replacements. If so it appears I'd need a rest / support for the joint side of the shaft. Do you guys buy these from somewhere or make your own? I don;t really know what they'd be called so I'm not finding much through searching. Thanks!

i screwed this down to some wooden blocks when i had mine 20 bucks on ebay
. you have to get the center height correct tho from the bottom of the table to the center or your lathe

I have the bed of an old sears dunlap lathe set up with the tailstock, so I can move it for different lengths. It was real tricky to get it set up straight but working well once I did.

Years ago before I retired I made a few different kinds for the mini lathe. Simpilest way now is to buy a extra bed.You can put it front or back and you can still use the steady or the tailstock on it.

I found one example going back about 10 years

Silly question probably but will any extra bed work and do you connect it to the existing? Thanks!

todd (mid america cue lathe) used to make these supports for basic tip/shaft repair lathe.

you can mount (router out a slot) a kreg/rockler channel jig and slide it wherever needed:
