TO ALL IN HELENE'S PATH .......BE SAFE

Thanks for the thought.

Personally I think my area (Central Florida 45 minutes northwest of Orlando) will be ok but we’re keeping our eyes on it.

Best wishes for the Tallahassee/Big Bend area and points north which might encounter flooding rain.

I live here in SW Florida- no real threat on this one. Hopefully one day a Tornado picks up a really nice billiard room and lands it here in SW Florida---FT. Myers south to Naples- bc no decent rooms exist down here -- hold the ruby slippers Dorothy!:):)

The panhandle looks like it could be a problem.

Here in Central FL we'll get some wind and rain but nothing worse than we see in our daily summer afternoon thunderstorms...

No fishing for me tomorrow though. Dammit!

On a funny note though, a member of my pool team is Helene. We'll have a lot of fun with that tonight. 😁

hurricanes up grade the area by taking out the old mobile homes not on foundations. and old houses cheaply built.

sad for some good for others.

every place has some events that cause great losses.

just hope injuries dont happen to those that foolishly stay and not go to a safe place.

This one has the potential to be a real rip snorter, especially on that NE side.
THIS IS NOT THE STORM TO LEARN ON.
My son lives in Panama City, but I am counting him as safe. You folks who are closer to impact, get yourselves safe and make no mistakes. Leave if you don't know what you are getting into. After the storm is the aftermath, and, again, leave now if you don't know what you are getting into. Good luck to all. You will remain in my prayers. Let us know how y'all come out.

I'm near Crystal river. The latest predictions have 12-18' of storm surge coming in. That's the worst I've seen in 35 years.

I spent all day helping some local businesses prep and move. Hopefully we get lucky.

The trouble with hurricanes is that "Lucky" often is defined as surviving and not getting slabbed.

just watched local weather. predicting 20ft surge in BigBend area. That's insane. Just hope people listened and left. Can't get away from a wall of water like that along with 100+ winds.
I hope they do, as well. Last year they got hammered pretty bad up there. I have a hunting cabin and property in Perry and we lost a lot of trees, but got really lucky that none of them damaged the cabin. I am hoping to make it up there this weekend to assess the damage.

We are in Nova Scotia and the hurricanes and storms are brutal in areas here as well. A friend was coming here for a visit when I believe it was Fiona that hit and he never made it. They were somewhere in New Brunswick and the entire roof got ripped off his motorhome. We had some big trees on our property and had them taken down and not worry about them coming down on the house.

HOPE THE DAMAGE IS NOT TOO SEVERE AND YOU GET YOUR POWER BACK QUICKLY
🙏 🙏
I’m in Clearwater. It’s 2pm on Thursday the 26th, and it’s all fairly quiet and dry. No tropical rain yet. The eye of Helene shifted to the west and is almost on our latitudes. It looks like she will shift east once she goes past Clearwater and make landfall in Tallahassee.

Tonight, one of the local pool halls (Bank Shots in Dunedin) is hosting a Hurricane Pool Tournalent. I’m sure there are a few local bars that are having Hurricane parties right now.

I'm not in direct path of Helene down here in SW Florida, but I stayed home today due to wind and rain- miss my pool session today!!

why stay and possibly get hurt or worse and live without power and access to things until they get it cleared up.

then everyone says oh the poor people there drowned and had trees cave in on them.

with hurricanes you get plenty of notice so just take a bus, plane, or drive away far enough. if you stay take your chances. ive been in multiple ones in places and survived easily, but dont live in a mobile home or on the beach. and near water so bought a concrete house.

Not always true. Depends on location of your home and what is hanging over it and what it is made of. This hurricane they did their hardest to downplay it until just a couple of days ago. This has come together fast as hell. Not as bad as that one that came together in 24 hours like the one that hit Acapulco last year but still fast. And there are tons of people in that area that have already fled. There have been people on the news here in JAX all night being interviewed that drove here from Tallahassee.
Thankfully we had 3K in dead trees removed this morning before the 60+ mph wind gusts come in tonight. Got lucky for once.
