To all my Ron Thomas case experts on here, a little information please? I've had this 3x6 case since the late '90's I think. And I'm thinking of getting it repaired. Is this a genuine Thomas case? It's leather, nothing fancy but it's an excellent case, all zippers are good. And heavy! TIA

Try to find a good luggage/shoe repair place. I've had a few cases fixed by a local place that did good work.
I know a few I trust, thanks. I'm looking for someone familiar with Ron's early work to verify it's his. I've never heard of him making big cases. Always glad to hear from you sir.You are well known and respected by us here!

Sir i don't know you but you are respected and know your stuff i enjoy reading your comments ,from Hamilton Ontario Canada steel town.
you ever meet Gerry Watson when he was still playing? One of the nicest people i've met in pool. Great player and all-round good cat.

I could be wrong, but my guess is it's a different Thomas from Ron Thomas. I have never seen a Ron Thomas case that was built in that manner.

It was used when I bought it around 1997,I'd imagine Ron would build about any size case for a customer back then. I think he was just starting out around the time. Your thoughts?

I'm not an expert, but I do own several Ron Thomas cases that I believe would span much of his case building career. None of them are constructed like yours. I've never even seen a Ron Thomas 3x6 (I heard he did make some, but I've never seen one).

What is written below the "Thomas" on that label?

Made in the USA,like all of his cases! I've had some say yes, others no. Enough in the know have tried to buy it. I'm no expert either and like it,sure. But it's gonna cost a little to get it presentable and I'm just wondering.

I do not think that is a Ron Thomas. I never saw a 3/6 RT, I know he did a 2x4 like It's George used to. I am also unaware if he had a private labeling agreement with anyone.

Again, I got it used in '97. The quality is there,as is my abuse of it. I've actually heard of Ron making 3x6 cases but have never seen one. Was hoping a member had one or a picture of one. As for labels? Long time artists in this field often start out with a certain label and change to another as time goes on. Again, I'm no expert. That's why I made this post. Someone has to have an earlier example of a case, the label anything to do with his early career.

Font is different on the label of your Thomas case and a Ron Thomas case.

I have seen a Thomas case with the exact same label as yours, same stiching style, strap attachment, etc.
That was a vinyl case, which from photos of the deteriorated areas on your case, may be as well.
Telltale sign would be to look inside the pocket to see if it's rough leather or white fabric backing.

Ty,sir! I'm digging it out tomorrow after work to verify this. I will return! 😆

It seems you are correct, the case is vinyl covered by the accessory pockets. So tell me, what's your knowledge of the case now, please? And I'd love to see any pictures you have of it,please? TIA

Thank you! I tried his FB site but got no reply yet. I've had a member I trust say it is a RT case he verified one years ago like it. He said it was a Witten style case with the same ID tag.

Well as Ron and I were personal friends many years, I believe he could be dead. Ron & Wife Sherri or was it Sherry both had very declining health problems so I am not sure the Ron is alive. Ron spoke to me openly about both of the Thomas’s declining health, and his hand no longer working to point of being unable to make Cue Cases 3 - 5 years ago.

Last time I tried reaching out to him both phones numbers I had were not answered or disconnected, his Cell & Landllne. Ron & Sherry had an adopted daughter living some were close to Ron, but I never had her contact info.

I believe the Case pictured in question is a very early Ron Thomas Case, as Ron and I spoke about his beginning in Cue Case Business. JBCase aka John Barton is the guy with most knowledge about Cue Case’s their builders, and history. Reaching out to John with Photos, and question could also bear some fruit.

If anyone wants to get to bottom of the question on Ron being alive or not, call Lafayette Louisiana Police and ask if they could do a welfare check at Ron’s last know address, and report if they made contact or not.

Thanks very much cowboy, that's exactly what I'm looking for! Love this site!

Thomas Cue Cases
They are clearly made in the Porper style of case, I would think to make this line of case, if they were made in the USA, then Porper might have been private labeling these. I have known Ron for many years and this is not something he would have made, in addition to the 1 x 2, and 2 x 4 cases, he couldn't keep up with those orders, let along make an entirely different style of case in 4 or 5 different patterns.

He was a one case at a time maker.
