Good morning all,

Have read through the responses. Loving your collective sense of humour, pessimism and sarcasm.

Will reply to as many as I can individually later!

So many questions with most of the answers already given, including in the response the first reply regarding "giving money without knowing what it is" which is not what we have asked or expect.

we're keen to build a little bit of excitement
yes, yes, of course-
one ball group represents a planet in our solar system or a constellation

another features various cartoon characters and popular superheroes

and the third group is mythological figures and gods and goddesses

now then-
each of the six pockets is aligned with an emotional state or a psychological condition

so, scoring is simple-
say i win the lag and sink (pot) jupiter into depression, and then catwoman and zeus into fury, my score would be only eleven

on you turn you make orion into ecstasy, sponge bob into humor, and then you miss a bank on hanuman into contentment, you would get thirty and be ahead by six

That image is taken from Blatt's description of Kelly pool:

It's just an image we have used until we can reveal. Nothing more to it, DI Jewett!

UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, no. Seriously?? They think this has a snowball in Miami chance of surviving?
Please tell us all about our concept!

It seems you have come across a leak. That or because others failed, any future ones are destined to fail, too?

Stay tuned!

are there any popular pool games that haven't grown organically from bottom up? i doubt it. that's probably where you should start, in a pool room. if it's a fun game, it will live, and spread.

Why would anybody "commit" for any amount of money without knowing the first thing about what you're talking about? When it's released and people know what it is and they want to buy it, they can buy it. I don't think I've ever seen a "tease" like this work out well. Remember when they teased how revolutionary and world changing the Segway was going to be? and then it turned out to be the Segway?
Please read the first reply to the first response, Moe.

We are not asking for money in advance of the reveal. It doesn't state that. I even said in the first post.

In case you missed it which I am unsure of as to how as you picked up on the "paying for something" bit.

"So, what we're looking to do is to seek potential customers in advance when we reveal the concept soon, with a reservation funnel of just £1 ($1.30)"

In advance WHEN we reveal the concept. For £1. Refundable upon pre-ordering. Refundable even if not.

So why bother with reservations you may ask?

Have also answered this. It's to build a list of genuinely interested people. Helps us to market it, makes others feel part of something. They get rewards and perks by joining the list. It doesn't cost anything. We don't receive this £1.

I hope you have a better understanding of this now!

Thanks

Jack

OP, Please realize that coming up with an idea is the easiest part of the entire process.

It is like deciding that you want to date a particular type of woman, when your end goal is raising an Olympic athlete son.

Getting a new game to catch on in this sport takes way more than marketing and promotion. It takes an entire era of mythos that spans generations.

The closest one who came to being successful was my friend and coach Joe Tucker with American Rotation. That was a LOT of work.

You really need to come to the table with more than a promise sem videos to show it. Come back later with a prototype that is free to see.
Ok, thanks.

The big problems I see:

1. One of your first statements is that you ban jumping and masses. Being that you are from the Merry old, this automatically suggests that you are catering to snooker culture. I, for one, hate the fact that the snooker culture is already screwing up the colors of our balls. Matchroom changing the ball colors is an extremely disrespectful move. Now you seem to want to push that further.

2. Nothing about pool seems complicated to me. Never did, so I can't even comprehend what type of simplification you are making? Taking away the break? Not requiring any balls to be in special spots? Not having to remember what ball you have to shoot at?

3. Hyping a product is great. Announcing weeks before any details are given that you are solving a problem without even defining the problem is...problematic and just serves to turn people away. So you rag on previous 'poor marketing' and proceed to undercut your marketing. Understand your audience, we all love pool, which means we likely don't see any inherent problems.

I'll tell you right now, there is absolutely no way that I am ever going to play your game. I live in a sparsely populated area (under 2million people in a state over 50% larger than the entire UK), so there is no chance that your game takes off with the local pool players in the next decade.

Banning things like jumps and masses is ridiculous at this point. I don't really do either much, but also don't want to take those options away from my opponents.
1. On a snooker table. Jump shots are even banned on English pool tables for English pool! Can jump/Masse on American tables.
2. The complication isn't to do with the game itself. The "problem" isn't the game itself.
3. With contracts, partners, awaiting trademarking and other bits first. I hope you can appreciate revealing too much prior would be naive and a bad move?

You say you won't ever play it based on not knowing what it is, but really what you mean is that something has irritated you that you haven't understood and therefore out of principle you won't give it a go?

I hope you may reconsider in future!

The assumption among the proprietors was the public has a growing thirst for team play, using the buzz that is the Mosconi Cup as evidence. This assumption was not correct then and it is not correct today. Team play is fine a couple of times a year, but I don't want too big a serving of it.

Also, bonus ball had teams that, supposedly, represented the cities of America, but the teams did not consist of the pro players most associated with those cities, so the presumption that people living in City A would care whether the City A team won was not well grounded.

In addition, the folks at Bonus Ball felt that fans were tiring of the mainstream games and that their new game was more exciting than those contested at the pro level. Bonus Ball was an interesting and challenging game that few understood and even fewer found more exciting to watch than the other games.

Finally, poor streaming quality made Bonus Ball, more or less, unwatchable for those, like me, who chose to give it a chance.
Well, thankfully it seems team play/bonus ball is far from what we have developed!

I hope you will give us a chance!

I can't for the life of me figure out what "problem" this new game could solve? Does it come with its own aiming system? CTI+ maybe? Think my money will be better spent on the Digiball...

Good luck with your endeavor, I love an entrepreneur and wish you success but with this tease and lack of info and the need for the consumer to buy new balls, well, it already seems a long road to hoe.
Revealing the details before paperwork finished would be a poor business move.

But getting a group engaged in discussing it and asking questions ahead of the reveal is a good move, even with all the negativity.

Does everyone here use the same cue, table, chalk and tips? But a cue is a cue, table is a table, chalk is chalk, a tip is a tip?

Does everyone here use one brand and one brand only of balls?

Does everyone here drive the same car?

I have some already engaged, a group here who already want to know what it is, mostly because they want to "prove" it won't work, which is a bizzare mindset.

Why not "we have seen many come and go, but this could work, never say never, we look forward to the reveal"?

It's fun to poke balls with a stick, as well as humans it seems 😀

To the OP, coming on here for strictly marketing purposes as a new member doesn't sit well with many of the members here. Quite a few of the more reputable members here have purchased the Gold Membership before beginning their marketing activities. You would probably have gotten a somewhat warmer reception if you were to have done this as well.

I love to see entrepreneurial efforts of all kinds, and I do wish you much success in your plan. However, I think it will be a very uphill endeavor, and I am inclined to take the under on your chances.
Not for marketing purposes as such. As a player for 30 or so years, I myself have been in a scenario and seen others in this scenario with complicated workarounds.

I am just excited to be able to bring something to the table (pardon the intentional pun) that would even be welcomed by those who at this point are saying no already!

I would like as many of you to be a part of this. It isn't about 1 person.

Let's wait and see?

Jack

Another broke-ass, fast talking, hustler -- every pool hall I ever spent any time in had at least one. So let's run the usual extermination:

Put you're money where your mouth is . . . let's make a bet on you reaching sales of 10K units in 2 years and post up and cover all side bets.

Oh. I forgot. You done outed yourself -- you don't have enough faith to fade "Dynaspheres . . . 'minimum order of 1,500 sets'".

Imagine he won't be around long, boys.
Broke-ass?

Well, that's not very nice, is it? What gives you that assumption?

Is every person in business who seeks investors or pre-ordering for products/services broke?

It's a smart thing to do. Why? Let's say I have £100k available which buys me X sets.

I then have £0 for marketing.

I raise £50k through pre-orders, I can order £100k worth of sets and have £50k for marketing. You see the logic now, right?

Those who pre-order get discounts, perks, benefits, limited edition goodies etc. They feel part of something, they can say "I contributed towards to success of <Insert product here>".

This is a very common method in business.

But broke-ass is incorrect and unwarranted.

It isn't that we don't feel we could hit 13,500 sets in 2 years. It's that we won't be bullied into MOQ, especially as tournament range may be for an elite few when clubs are most likely to purchase and the snooker ball option is going to be less popular, but still worthy of a few hundred sets.

Pre-orders help determine % of which balls are most popular and orders sent off reflect that.

It's business.

Yeah, seems strange they don't even have a website/domain yet.
We do.

But had you read previous replies, and where we gave the email address, it clearly says we have that but it would give too much away.

Hence the temporary option.

Bookmark this, when we reveal, do a whois lookup, you will see domain registered prior to this thread 👍

We are protecting our concept. It's part of the process.

We are not just "some person who played pool one day and came up with an idea".

Stay tuned!

No website, also don't find their twitter or instagram, either.

A brand new game that's launching in September 2025 is going to have pro AND amateur matches on TV by 2026? Boy, that seems...optimistic. How much amateur pool is televised now?
We have the domain(s), we have the socials reserved. Website is being built.

Would it make business sense to reveal all before paperwork done?

Many of UP streams feature amateur players. Sometimes amateurs make it into televised games.
