Helsinki is hosting once again Taom V10 WNT Open, matches start next Thursday.

Entry list (92 entries max, now between 60-70) very strong: https://www.wntlivescores.com/events/taom-v10-open-2025

Biljardi 247 is an excellent venue with 13x Predator Apex 9' tables and 3x Diamond 9' tables with addition of 2x carom, 2x snooker and barbox, chinese pool and kaisa tables. Last year I played the event (finished in the money!) and they offered to all players a 24/7 keycard access to the pool club and a separate players lounge with food, snacks and drinks. The players really liked how they were treated and I think that is why there are several top pros returning to the event and also some new entries. Price pool is $40k and winner takes home $8k, runner-up $5.4, semifinalists $3.5k, quarters $2.5k and L16 $1.2k.

For the viewers all match tables are streamed and with the exclusion of WNT stream TV table, all tables are free to watch in Youtube channel BilliardTube: https://www.youtube.com/@billiardtube2022

The club pages in Finnish: https://biljardi247.fi/

Don't see your name yet...

Strong field for sure.

Out of the 8 highest fargo rated players from Finland, 7 are playing:

Petri Makkonen, Jani Uski, Kim Laaksonen and Casper Matikainen all in the 780-795 range, then Jere Virtaranta, Riku Romppanen and Arseni Sevastyanov in the 745-760 range.

Only Mika Immonen (786) missing.

Then a bunch of 700-740s, too many to bother listing. But they are extremely unlikely to win the whole tournament anyways.

The four 780-795s have a real chance, three after that possible but would be a massive suprise. Last year Riku Romppanen (746) got to the semi finals, very strong performance. A kid with real talent, he's 17 or something like that.

I was little sick last week and could not get on table. So skipped this one .. I really wanted to go but not this time.
Too bad :( I went to play at 24/7 last evening and the tables play really nice with brand new cloth! I am also bummed not to be able to attend...

Last 32 starting now, 12/32 of the remaining players are Finnish. Watching with interest how many will make it to the last 16 :) Last year was 8/32 in L32 and 2/16 in L16

My prediction for final: Alcaide vs. Makkonen

Yeah, usually the pros harvest the field of local players, now only Makkonen and young gun Sevastyanov left in a quite tough L16 bracket. Interestingly, Bingham still in, came back from 5-0 against Grabe to win hill-hill. Last years local success story semifinalist Riku Romppanen is out in L32.

Just came back from the venue, good atmosphere!

Top8 left, last day of the tournament starts tomorrow:

Elliott Sanderson vs. Duong Quoc Hoang
Niels Feijen vs. Petri Makkonen
Kledio Kaci vs. Jonas Souto Comino
Marc Bijsterbosch vs. David Alcaide

My prediction for Makkonen vs. Alcaide final is still on, I'll go ahead and predict the score will be 13-11 for Makkonen :D
