Edit: I feel like such an idiot. I did not even take a good look at the picture. I see now that the white ferrule is chipped in two different places. Did not notice that before.

The ferrule is chipped, who knows why. Could be from a tip getting too thin, could be from a dull cutter when the pad was replaced.

No, the ferrule cannot be fixed without removal. The ferrule is also poorly attached to the shaft (see gap below ferrule). Your repair person will likely have to face the shaft for the new ferrule.

You paid money for that shaft? Did you see those photos before paying? There are a lot of problems. What the hell is going on about 6-7in down from the tip? Was that thing broken and glued back together?

Hope there is a return policy.

Dried super glue on the shaft, I assume. Thanks for the info. I understand..

I got the shaft really cheap, and figured that the issue could be repaired, with a new ferrule and tip, being the worst case scenario. I just had no idea what I was looking at.

Thanks. Yeah, I have seen what dried super glue stains look like on CF shafts in the past, and assumed that was what I was looking at, further down the shaft, going from the pictures that I have. Strange that cue repair people must tend to use that much super glue when installing a new tip, that it drips down the shaft.

Hi, curious, have you ever seen a tip pad that thick? Is that normal? I wonder why the shaft might have such a thick pad, between the ferrule and tip. I guess that would greatly soften the hit, right? I do not know. Thanks for your time.

Yes I have. I actually just had a customer wanting a thick white padover his V-tek pad as he had problems with contrast on his Revo shaft with a black ferrule.

That makes sense. I wonder, do you think the shaft might play okay without a pad replacement, and just a new ferrule and tip? Also, I wonder if any players ever choose a good Medium tip with CF shafts? I am asking, because I hate the way Soft tips hit. I like a Kamui Brown Medium, for example. Probably a dumb question, but hopefully that type of a tip would hit good with a CF shaft. Thanks a lot for your time.

If you need some sort of tip pad or not, depends on how the ferrule is made. Only way to truly know is to remove the tip and pad. Lots of people like medium tips. Zan, Caiden and Kamui Athlete are all very popular amongst my customers.
