Gold Crown VII - initial thoughts?

For those in the community, curious what your reactions are to the latest Gold Crown.

Big changes to overall design (frame, rails, sub rails, ball return, rubber, profile, etc)

Seems like Brunswick went all in, implementing a lot of changes from the VI to the VII.

Attaching a few photos “under the hood” from FB.

I appreciate the engineering that was used under the hood of the GC7 however the ball return end look absolutely crap.
The GC4 and GC5 were gorgeous looking tables.😁

Let's make the GC4 really ugly and call it a GC7. The aluminum rails might be the only improvement that I see.
The traditional GC 1-4 design should never have been changed. Different woods/finishes would have been the difference.

I like them. They're a nod to the GCI. I thought it would be cool to also offer apron colors in Tangerine and Brunswick Blue, but I'm a GCI fan so I'm a bit biased.

That era..Looks great on your table.
Seriously.. Brunswick should have come to you for new or traditional designs.

It's slowly growing on me. The aluminum rails and reinforced frame/frame-liner are two very nice upgrades. The seven's nostalgia, created by the reintroduction of the plastic trim/skirts, is awesome, in my personal opinion. Yes, I am a Gold Crown 1-6 enthusiast. Regardless, I don't believe that makes my opinion about said reintroduction biased, though. Sure, nostalgia is always a great feeling. That's a given. However, I am truthfully a fan of the plastic trim/skirts, on the GC-7. Specifically, because of it's targeted fan-base.

A base that consists of Brunswick and/or GC enthusiasts (obviously), table mechanics, cue makers, retailers, collectors, amateur, and professional players, alike. I can honestly appreciate that. Mainly because Brunswick could've changed the design, entirely, without batting an eye. It would've sold, no-matter-what. There are millions of people that have played on GCs, in pool-halls and bars, yet, have no clue, let alone care. Considering that, the trim/skirts are a nod to people and/or players that sincerely care, and have a serious passion for the game, itself. A sincere nod to the people/players that I would say matter the most, in regard to the nostalgia-factor. Brunswick certainly did not have to do that, but they did, anyway. Again, in my opinion, that's awesome, but I digress.

The only change(s) I don't really care for, is the design of the ball-storage/ball-box. I'm sure new storage area works well, I just can't get past disliking how it looks, over-all. Seems like it was a decision based on saving money and maximizing profit. I only say that because it's been replaced with the same wire material used to make the returns out of, as opposed to wood and/or metal, like previous models. It's more than simply its looks, that I dislike. I really don't like the placement of it now, either. Which, ironically contributes to its unfortunate aesthetics, anyway. Making it a part of the rail assembly, like previous models, was more innovative and convenient. It was also a much sleeker look, too. Rather than leaving it obviously exposed, on either side of the ball-box.

Getting down to brass tacks, I really like the Gold Crown 7, and all of its design changes and/or upgrades, except for 1. I'd give it a 8, out of ten. That number could go up-or-down by 1, after I get the chance to actually play on one.

I just went on Brunswick website, the pics of 1-6 were nice to see the differences. To me the GC4 still looks the best. The blacked out 7 pic is ridiculous, the real pics show how ugly the table really looks. I can’t believe a pool player designed that table but, it probably works out for a pool hall.

Typical pool players( unwad ur panties i'm in there too), Brunswick does NOTHING for years and when they do all the bangers go off. Look, Escalade is spending the $$$ to get them back in the limelight. From the GC-styled barbox(table used by UltimatePoolUSA btw) to the new 7 they're trying to do battle with Diamond which you think would sooth a few of those with severe cases of DDS. I like the look myself, those ball holders may not be the prettiest thing but they are useful. I swear most poolplayers would bitch if they weren't hung with a new rope. ;)

as a fan of the game of one pocket I find this a very interesting feature.
I even like the design, although a wooden solution would be esthetically preferable.

At home I've got a European Clash II of III table I purchased for restoration (dismantled and stored at this moment)... another project for the coming winter. It's a replica of a GC III or GC IV.
It came from the game room of Ladies World Champion Snooker Wendy Jans in Belgium. She ordered new STAR 9foot pooltables for her pool and snooker room.

GARC…Would you buy a BMW with Mickey Mouse wheels?
What’s DDS… a dentist

It's almost like we'd expect the engineers to listen and design exactly what we think it should be (good luck!). There was a pool player/mechanic involved in the design, the improvements were made to make it setup friendly for large events. Also the ball return system was designed to eliminate arguments over scoring in one pocket, specifically.
