MARKET VALUE??? TAD

We can all guess but call the guy’s son.

All you have to ask is how much it costs to make this exact one today. Then go from there depending on condition.

I know someone at the pool hall said his cue is worth XYZ and I told him to call the cue maker and he refuses. Some people don’t want to hear the truth.

Asking the cue maker is better than asking us.

I think it’s a bit more valuable since it’s practically brand new. It will go to another collector willing to pay for it.

I think Tad is almost near to the point where nobody knows who he was.

We can use his HOF status.
Maybe among the younger players but most older players in Cali are aware of Tad cues.

It is probably worth about $5000 but no one wants to pay full retail on bigger dollar cues. My guess is you will probably wind up getting about $4500 for it. Younger players do not realize Tad made his reputation on how good his cues played. I may sell my last Tad some time and it really does play good. But it is no where near as fancy as your cue.

I find it ridiculous that a plane jane tad goes for about $2000 and a Cuetec "true wood" goes for $1000.
The ratio between some production cues and custom-made cues is really small these days.

15-20 years ago, I got a used Scruggs for $1600 and a brand new McDaniel for $1500... these are production cues prices these days, while custom cue prices and value did not go up at the same ratio, maybe it's just a weak market in the USA.

Collectors are a dying breed. People used to buy cues for the craftsmanship and materials that went in. Now they are paying big dollars for cues that promise to make them play better, but in reality are much inferior cues. Those of us involved in the cue repair forums see how lousy some of these $1500 high production cues are made. Many are decal decorated cues that fall apart.

production cues have a multitude of people with their hands in the product getting money. but when you sell something its just you.

i heard today that with medicines 50% goes to people who have nothing to do with its manufacture or sale or distribution.

Great post Fatboy. I’ve always likened it to classic cars… cars can replace cues in your description.
Yes 100%. Watches as well.

Most markets function the same. There are seller, buyers and inventory. Everything changes. People make mistakes. Trends are there to try and answer questions about the future, but they only help so much.

The only guarantee is if you aren’t in action you’ll have no action. And no action is break even which over time is losing.

So I stay in action and win and lose along the way.

I made a pile on cars this past year, on old cars I owned for 20 years.

I’ve lost more on Realestate in my life that I’ll ever make back - shit happens ,

Best
Fatboy <——-always in action 👍
