Air Rush Shaft Break Shots

Can I break with a Predator Air Rush Shaft?

Right now I am using a standard deflection wood shaft break cue. 14mm with extra hard leather tip. So I think the deflection would be less with the Air Rush Shaft?

I am most concerned that I will break ferrule or damage the Air Rush shaft somehow. If the tip comes off, not a big deal. I just don't want to damage a 500 dollar shaft.

Low deflection means nothing for a break shaft.
At the break distance and speed, you’ll need to compensate just the same with any shaft if you wish to apply spin.

To your question, if a shat can take the beating of jump shots, it could handle a break shot.

I thought this at first. But I am starting to think that a break shot has way more force involved. Break shot around 16mph? If it was possible to put that much force into a jump shot I would think we could clear a full 9 foot table. I think the "beating of jump shots" is actually an illusion from lifting a ball off slate.

The Air rush shaft does not have a ferrule, so you cannot damage it...
Compared to the break shaft, there is a difference in the tip diameter and tip material, but overall construction they look similar.

As I wrote above, LD has no concern with the break, so you could keep using the current break shaft.

If you wish to get a CF break shaft, then consider the Raven break shaft that only costs $200. I have one, and it works great. I don't know how low deflection it is, as I never bothered to test it, but usually, a CF shaft will have less deflection than a standard wooden shaft.

I've actually tried this a few times. I use a BK Rush break cue and an Air Rush jump cue, and I tried switching the shafts for a few games, to see what would happen. It turns out that, for me at least, the shafts work much better for their intended purposes. I'm not sure how it would compare to a wood shaft, but this was my experience with Predator carbon fiber shafts.

Forgot no ferrule. I do not want to damage the vault plate or drive it into the shaft splitting the carbon tube. I have not seen this on an Air Rush, but I have seen pictures of this damage happening on Rhino CF break shafts.

Ok, LD is not really a concern then. The Raven sounds like a great option, but this Air Rush thing was to put off or save up for a BK Rush or BK Shaft.

Understood. Since you have both of these setups. Can you tell me if the balance point on your BK rush break cue changes when you put the Air Rush Shaft on it? Also, is the BK Rush Butt itself forward weighted compared to a normal playing Butt?

Last time I checked, Predator don’t sell just the break shaft. I was looking for it to fit my BK2 (didn’t see any reason to buy a whole new cue). That’s why I went with the Raven

I’m glad that I’ve missed this… the $200 Raven is just fine by me.

I just realized something today. The predator air rush does not have a Vault Plate. The BK rush does have a vault plate.
