I live in Maryland but decided to take a little adventure yesterday to Revolution/Fast Eddies in Springfield Virginia. I arrived at opening and grabbed a table and a menu intending to make a day of it. A dozen 9’ Diamonds which, while the cloth is well worn and screaming for replacement, the tables themselves were set up well by whomever the regular table mechanic is. Pockets on my table were 4 1/4” and the tables themselves played great. Good music, the food was excellent and the young Filipina bartender was friendly and attentive and provided excellent service. Bathroom was also clean, which was a plus. While almost everything I described above was great, there was an issue that was just a deal breaker, the room temperature. 2 hours in by 1:00 pm it was easily 85-90 degrees in there and staggeringly humid. I went to the bar to ask the bartender about it and she was standing there with a little battery powered hand held fan. I offered her $50 bucks for it and got a chuckle out of her. I asked what was up with the temperature? She rolled her eyes and said she wished she had a nickel for every complaint she got about it. She said she recently had gone on vacation and hoped it would be rectified by the time she returned but it hadn’t been. They have a dozen ceiling fans but they’re all rotating in the wrong direction pulling air up. They could just flip the switch on the base of the fan so it would at least change the blade rotation and mercifully blow a little cooling air down but I guess that makes too much sense. To add insult to injury the beer delivery guy arrived and propped open the back door about 20 feet from my table with a keg and it took him a 1/2 hour to get his delivery done with that door propped open the whole time making an already bad situation worse making it even more hot and humid. After about 4 hours I had soaked the towel I carry on my case mopping my brow and my shirt was completely soaked so I gave up the ghost and left. This was really a great place, good tables, good music, good food, good service, but it was ruined by the rain forest like temps and humidity. The place is in a strip mall so they must be leasing, which means all they should have to do is the owner of the hall contact the landlord to repair or replace the AC unit but per what the bartender said, that isn’t happening. I may try it again in the winter as it checked all the boxes if the temps had been even bearable. It’s a shame because it was a nice place.
