i assume there's no shot clock on side tables. big kaci was torturing this guy obaidli with his slow (and rather poor) play. the guy blitzed him in the second set, as to make a point. won in the decider too.

What the WPA is left with is a watered down version of a World Championship.No. There's just too many high-level players not playing in the event to suggest they all turned down invites. Especially young guys who travel everywhere - Krause, Neuhausen, Wielinski.
All the top players who are absent, except for Niels Feijin, stuck with Matchroom/WNT during the standoff, therefore losing WPA points in the rankings. (Feijin simply doesn't go to most events anymore, whether WNT or WPA).

Check out the list of contenders who won't be in the 64-player World 10-Ball Championship. The reason? It's all WNT players stripped of WPA points after participating in last year's Hanoi Open, thus not ranked high enough to earn spots, and not enough wild card invites to go around. After being told they could enter the Stage One qualifiers, these players opted to pass on the tournament altogether.
This has nothing to do with Mosconi or Reyes points. These players were simply frozen out of the field. Once again, everyone loses.. players, promoters, sponsors, WPA. And, so it goes.

On the other hand, some WPA invitees include Hunter Lombardo and Lukas Fracasso-Verner from the US. And Juan Carlos Expósito and José Alberto Delgado from Spain. They are not the best those countries can offer, obviously.
PS: It appears Souto is taking part in the qualifiers.
Hunter is in good shape financially to go where he pleases. He needs no sponsors to pay his way.
Not so long ago there was an absence of good tournaments for the pros to compete in. Now they have too many and have to pick their spots. I guess you could call that progress.

yes. We have this argument about whether this is a good format or not and this stat shows it’s not. I’ve played in formats like this in a competition 2 levels above my rating and each time I have made it to the quarter finals which I would never do in a race to 9
thing is they said they we're gonna change to best of five sets, but then they reverted back. We know the players don't like it, or the racking situation, so then the argument is that it's more interesting for the viewing audience. which we've heard ozzy and others say for years now. Is there any proof of that, is my question?? their US tour faded out, we know that.

don't see anymore upsets likely today, maybe mario, but tevez is a good player. kaci could be another one, vogel is getting stronger by every tourney.

Their US tour has two stops this year and has four on the calendar for next year (Vegas, San Antonio, St Louis, & JAX).
But it is a dumb a$$ format for a world championship.
The tables don't seem to play like a Diamond or Rasson. The balls seem to roll faster, but the balls seem to leave the break slower (the rack?). I've seen lots of odd misses. Then there is the weird two-of-three set format instead of three of five.
Some good pool being played, but I can't get all that excited.
