I made a small donation...and got a cue. I rather like it! Shuriken Butterfly Effect System cue.

I stumbled upon Shuriken Cues (out of Ukraine) somewhere, maybe even here, and I find a lot of their designs beautiful & interesting. I was curious about them, but didn't want to spend upwards of $450 to satisfy that curiosity. Low & behold, there's an option to donate $100 to Ukraine causes and you get a simple cue in Ukraine colors. I couldn't pass that up...and I'm glad I couldn't - I really like this cue. It looks cool (as in unique) to me and actually plays really well, especially with an OB shaft borrowed from a custom of mine.

The stock shaft isn't bad, but I definitely like the OB here and a G-Core I have plays nice, as well. Fit & finish isn't bad, not for $100. I did pay a little extra for a 3/8x10 pin and that pin appears to be phenolic or some other plastic-like material. I like that that too, it makes the balance great and the hit is good. I had a Steve Klein custom with an epoxy pin once. It was great!

It's still new and I'm putting it through its paces with other shafts, including CF & Kielwood. Right now the OB is delightful. This cue is fun!

The pin is likely made from Garolite G-10 Phenolic. The striation lines are from the layers of reinforcing fiberglass cloth. Nice looking cue, especially for $100. Do you mind sharing how much the pin change cost?

Regards,
Bill

I paid $175 total for cue, upgrade & shipping, so maybe $50 for the upgrade? I can't remember the specifics. The cue comes standard with some metric joint system that I assume is common there, so if you want radial, 3/8x10 or Uni-Loc you have to specify and pay extra.

The G-10 makes sense. The Steve Klein custom I had was a G-10 pin, though it was kinda clear, almost like dried glue.

Thank you for the information on pricing. Like you mentioned, the standard cue comes with some kind of metric threaded joint. I'd pay extra for a more common pin.
G-10 can be found in a variety of colors, black, green, almost white etc.
