Break tips.. whats good?

I have an Outsville Hammerhead on my BK Rush. I like the way it breaks, but it doesn’t hold chalk well. I have to hit it with a tip pik all the time or I have a good chance of miscuing.

I’d like to try the new Taom break tip (I presume 3.0) if they ever get them out. I’m also curious about the new cuetec break tip - I don’t know anyone who has one yet.

Anyone know if Taom is ever going to come out with a new break tip to replace the 2.0?

Yes. They told me they expected them to be out “this summer”, which has obviously come and gone. So I don’t know when but there should be one coming out.

I found that a Kamui Gatorgrip (or any of the plethora of knock offs) does a great job on the HH2 tips. Once you lightly scuff it, it's good for quite a while. When it gets to the point it's looking slick you can rough it up again.

The grit on these is super sharp so in a way it's something like a tip pick instead of sanding away layers. Really good tools.

Enough that it doesn't miscue the one time I reach for it.

I've used some phenolic tips that would lose all the chalk if you just gently blew on the tip. Phenolic doesn't take scuffing very well, unlike other materials.

I'm not a centerball guy on the break, so chalk means a lot to me, and a tip being able to retain that chalk is paramount. It's just one less thing to worry about on arguably the most crucial shot of the game.
angle grinder with 80 grit paper will fix this. scuff away pilgrim.

I've gone through the gambit on break tips.

I tried the tiger ice breaker, it hit good but it was brittle and chipped if you looked at it wrong.

The bulletproof clear is what I settled on because it's firm but not glass like, and it holds chalk well. Phenolic is a little too hard and doesn't hold chalk for shit.
That's what I,'m using as well , also using the Bulletproof Recoil playing tip, I believe this is the future of cue tips.

I have a White Diamond on one break cue and the Samsara on another. I like them both.
I might give the Kamui Sai a chance when and if I’ll need to replace the tip
I use the same, White diamond has bit more power, Samsara for me has more control

No solution here --- if you don't like the phenolic tip,
Tip and ferrule BulletProof combo.jpg

you won't like the ferrule/tip phenolic combo:

Bulletproof breake tips aren't good for heavy breaking; they're too flexible. I installed one on my break cue and threw it away the next day. HammerHead give 2 to 3 MPH more speed than any tips I tested and I tested a lot on Predator speed application, for me HammerHead and White Diamond in second.

Anyone here tried the Caiden Fenrir?
I haven't tried it, but a guy I know very well, who has otherwise had positive things to say about Caiden product, and sells them. Did not have such positive things to say about it.
He said Zan Double Face, A Hard Zan tip, or Kamui Sai/Sai Hard were all better options.
I opted for Sai Hard and have been thoroughly impressed.
