Is removing your glove a shark move?

I think it’s time this is discussed…

It’s hill-hill, ur opponent scratches on the break. Then walks over to his chair and removes his glove as if the outcome of the match is already determined.

How is this not considered dismantling of equipment, just like breaking down a cue, which is universally considered a forfeit?

I’ve seen that a number of times here at the INT open…. As well as one player who broke down his jump cue and put it in his bag while his opponent was still shooting.

I agree. Pure nit shark move. Should be a concession just like un-screwing.

To me breaking down your cue is a yes.. glove I don’t think so but I guess it could be.

Lobby to have removing your glove to be a concession & written into the rules.

If someone removing their glove is such a distraction, go get a ref & see if his/her action falls under unsportsmanlike conduct.

What if I want to switch shaft mid game?
What if my hands sweat and I want to dry them? can't do it while I'm at the table....
Stop looking for excuses for not running out.
if every little thing throws you off your game then start working on your mental game and stop thinking about fish with big teeth

You know exactly what the op means. If you actually read what the op said and when it occured its obvious it was shark move. Of course there's gonna be times where a glove is removed but in this instance its a pure shark move by a pure nit.

Why are they paying attention to what the opponent is doing? I'm thinking about what I'm about to do. The shaft thing makes sense to me because putting it back together is wasted time.
The glove 🤣 I agree with Skor. Some people look for any reason to bitch and moan.

Whatever dude. Glad to see players out there are so classy. If i'm the TD he's done. Have a little class, there are plenty of ways to remove your glove without it being a shark move. Based on the op's telling it sounds like a pure nit move to me. Reminds me of the asswipes that rattle keys/coins when someone else is putting. Should it bother you? Probably not but that doesn't make it acceptable.

Some pool players might sweat a lot and want to change gloves. Baseball players are always adjusting their batting gloves as their pre-swing routine. Golfers take their gloves off between shots to air them out (or rotate them) when it is hot out, which could be during a match play match. The list could go on. Don't let it bother you and just play your game...

I guess my thought is: you really shouldn’t be sharked by sumthin’ like that.

I mean, I know we’re all wired differently, but that kinda of stuff should just roll off you back like the apocryphal water and duck.

Run out and give him a reason for having taken off the glove.

I've finished the final game of a tournament set only to see my opponent halfway to the parking lot for a smoke. I definitely don't agree with it but I don't give it a second thought. I guess I just don't see the glove thing the same as rattling keys. Somebody might get a putter upside the head for that.

I get it believe me. I'm talking about pulling it off in one's line of sight after scratching hill-hill. Totally a shark move. As for golf i saw a nit get his ass SMOKED after he pulled the Velcro in his opponents backswing. Yeah, he was just adjusting it. Well he was done for the day, dude knocked him flat out.

Let's just say someone did it in your line of sight mid stroke. You still gonna be so nice? Yeah right.

I think it depends a little bit on how they do it. If they sit down and nonchalantly pull their glove off and scratch their hand, I doubt I'd see it. If thye get all mad and make a scene of ripping off their glove and packing it back up in their case, kinda bad from. I used to wear a glove because I had really bad eczema on my bridge hand. I had to pull it down and scratch when I left the table or I'd go nuts. I tried to be discreet about it, mostly because it was kinda embarrassed about how tore up my hand looked at the time. I don't think I ever sharked anyone. If I wanted to do that, I'd roll up my shirt and pick lint out of my belly button. Good trick to know.
