I was too harsh, I didn't see this coming. I genuinely thought you were a lunatic. Anyway, I'd stop playing pool if I had to use a "pocket marker".

I played one session of APA years ago without knowing what I was getting myself into.
My first game of 8-ball I was about to make the 8 and the captain screamed for a timeout and explained that I had to "mark" my very obvious pocket.
A bit confused but willing to play along, I pulled out my wallet and placed it next to the pocket. I was told that for some inexplicable reason, neither the wallet or any kind of money was allowed as a marker.
To the horror of half the players there, I replaced my wallet with the small .380 pocket pistol I was carrying and made my shot.
I didn't last long in APA...

There is a video on YouTube where Stephen Hendry and Steve Davis are playing pool. During the game, Stephen Hendry calls pool a Mickey Mouse game.
I found that somewhat offensive, especially because he kept missing his shots.
But when I see things like pocket markers, it actually does feel like a Mickey Mouse game.
How about my drink, can I mark the $#cking pocket with my drink? If not I would use my cue case.True story...

actually in onepocket its not that uncommon to forget which pocket is yours and shoot at the wrong pocket so i bought these for those times when i or my opponent needs it

Now be kind fella's , I've been watching a few videos from years gone by where the ref is marking the pocket before the shot .
It's also one of the rules for playing in the VNEA pool league , it's a necessary rule in their way of thinking ????

back when I played VNEA, I had a "rubber duck" as a pocket marker, drove the opposing team nuts.

It must be because there just isn't enough rubber ducks to go around ! We may have to substitute some with rubber chickens in the meantime ha ha !
The Chain of Shame! for league teams. Is a hot item, Daughter/ Son-in-law are doing.

At times my 3 teammates could each have a need for one of those ha ha a time or two I have also because I needed to hit my object ball soft and slow to get my next shot and I had forgotten about the cloth in front of the pocket rolling a ball back out if not hit fairly firm ha ha , even with that miss and ball in hand for my opponent I still won both of those games !
