-Had a new inserts installed and mech said collars were loose so he reinstalled them.
Now the shafts has lift on tip end when attached to any of my cue butts.
They roll straight alone-

These are Steve klapp old growth shafts purchased 2010 -Never had a issue till now.

Appreciate your thoughts on this issue.

Thank you for your time.

Find someone different that knows what they're doing.

A lot of hacks with a lathe out there now.

Just because one can afford a lathe doesn't mean they know what they're doing.
You also can bring them back to the mech to correct. I think We've all faced this problem when starting out. If he hasn't been doing cue work for long I would hope he'll want to correct his work and learn from it. If he's unwilling then run and find someone else to do it correctly.

Good point to think about. If you are satisfied with the overall work and he is less experienced it could be just that. He should have requested the butt to check the connection before giving it back to you. It could also need a facing as well. Another problem could be the new insert itself. Depending on the type of pin and insert, you can face it all day long and it won’t roll straight. A little chamfer on the insert can fix that issue. All parts and pieces, and all conditions need to be checked.

In the end if they don’t own up to it or the other work is not well done, find a better mechanic before it gets worse.

The mechanic should have checked them, Then again, maybe the inserts aren't straight The collars may have been loose because somehow, he applied heat to remove the inserts, which softened the epoxy holding the collars on

I have a little story that relates to this situation. A guy in my league wanted a cheap cue as he is a beginner but wanted something consistent instead of a random house cue. I had hung onto a couple early creations and he really liked one of them. It had a slight tip lift when rolled so I agreed to redo the receiver, reface, or whatever would correct it. I obviously wasn't going to make any money on this cue but I had to learn what was going on. I refaced it, then redid the receiver and it still had a little lift at the tip. Even though both butt and shaft rolled straight.

Here's what was odd, I could put that shaft on two of my butts (made by me) and together it rolled straight, visa versa with the butt with my shafts (made by me). Honestly I'm still trying to work this one out by refacing, drilling out, plugging and reinstalling a new receiver. I'll find out next week if that worked. As an amateur, I'm still learning and glad the guy understood that from the beginning. This is why I haven't tried to advertise my cues until I have more figured out. The locals and my friends know where I'm at and I'm not getting trashed by those that expect perfection. Don't get me wrong I've made some nice cues and have happy customers.

Happy New Year to all
Robert
