Thoughts ... Russian Kenny is out of prision

For some reason with pool it just sticks. If folks took a deep dive into boxing history, baseball, etc, the behavior/s, gambling, corruption, etc, would make their toes curl.

There have been so many books written about guys like Kenny. Ask Jay Helfert or the Beard. Part of the lore.
We eat it up but on a personal level people act differently, or the majority of us do.

I've played Kenny a couple times in Tournaments, once in a finals match.
I came up through the one loss side.
I lost 7-3, nine ball.
Nobody runs a Calcutta like Kenny.
He has always been completely respectful with me.
He's a very focused person and trust me, he's very smart.
He's made bad choices.
Hopefully he turns it around.
I have not seen Kenny run a Calcutta but I have watched 3 from Ray Hanson. Ray does a bang up job and really knows how to run it.

Kenny runs a great calcutta. No question about that.
He's got all his guys positioned in the crowd to bump everyone up in price without them actually buying anyone.

Problem is, if the TD wants to do the calcutta themselves, or have someone else do it and it is known ahead of time, Kenny starts to knock the tournament.

The guy hasn't been banned from basically every pool room in the area at some point in time because he's just such a stand-up guy.😂

Nobody runs a better Calcutta than Kenny. He's always on stage.
Hate Calcuttas myself. They draw the tournament out longer. Rather just have a pot.

I have always hated calcuttas for the most part.

It affords someone who is not playing, the opportunity to affect the outcome of a tournament.

Nothing like having the top calcutta pick on the ropes and having all hell break loose on the sidelines with the sharking/arguments tying to give their horse an edge to get back in the match.

Or being a top pick and having the guy who bought you sweat your every move, having a heart attack on each and every shot where you have to tell them to stop riding you so hard, that you would rather threaten them with losing just to get them off your back. Where you'd gladly go home at that point, after having told them to f*ck off.

Been there, done that.

It's the pool world. This stuff has been part of the lore forever.

you keep saying that word but that doesn't mean it's good or worth listening to. i've watched two of the biggest cuesports talents i've ever seen succumb to various drugs. junior talents, young adults. one of them i see from time to time and he's a wreck, a low level pusher. i was myself in two-three years of habitual opiate use after i broke my back, but still wanted to compete in pool. and prison, we all probably know someone in the local pool room, if it's big enough, that's in or out.

i wouldn't listen to them on a podcast either. these things have no "lore" value for me..

Sincerely sorry for your travails.
Larger than life characters have been part of the pool world forever.
Most pool players by far have different lives than that.
2 In the morning in a pool room looks a lot different than noon in a poolroom.
Fact of life.

I agree. I think I've seen, heard, and lived enough lore for this lifetime.

I was so talented, that at one point I could buy myself for $20, and sell myself for $12.50.
🤪

With that, wasn't it Jeanette Lee who told the guy that bought 100% of her that she would dump if they didnt let her buy half(and this isnt before the draw, it's when she was gonna cash) .

What a POS move that is, and yet all the drooling idiots on here worship her

But you all watch gangster movies and worship those scumbags.

Some low level poolplayer is on a podcast and you all lose your minds 🤣

Do you people actually think there's millions of people watching this? And who cares if they do, the public loves shit like this.

I guess most of you just hang out in church

I think I remember this thread.
If I'm not mistaken, that's where I first went on my rant about the calcutta 10%.
Didn't she leave or something cause she forgot her cue or whatever? Or some other circumstances around her doing whatever controversial thing? Or am I mixing 2 threads up?

I mean why didn't she take half of herself in the first place would be my question.
And at the same time, I don't feel players have ANY obligation to appease someone who bought them.
That's a YOU problem.

One would think that they would respectfully toss her some jelly if she won, but they aren't obligated to if she didn't take half herself in the first place.

But that goes to my point.
Calcuttas introduce complications into a tournament where they didn't exist, before the calcutta entered the picture.

That's about the least worst thing she's done.

Jeanette Lee just has a better PR team than Russian Kenny.
