First off, I don't jump very well and am working on that. I've been using a McDermott Stinger jump/break for a number of years and it does OK as a break cue but I can't help but think there are much better options for a jump cue.
I would prefer to have a more effective combo jump/break cue so I don't have to carry as much stuff in my case but if a dedicated jump cue only is the way to go I guess that's what I'll have to do.
Does anyone have experience with a good combo jump break or should I just keep my Stinger and use it for breaking and buy a dedicated jump cue?

Thanks

Get dedicated cues for each task. A break/jump cue will always be a compromise and it will in most cases lean towards making jumping easy.

With a jump cue, generally lighter is better. The "jump" portion of most "jump/break" cues is just much heavier than a good, dedicated jumper.

I have that cue and it jumps great. I seems like you jump fundamentals are off some. Message me and I can give you a free online jump lesson if you want.

pure-x is the best one i've tried. all j/b cues are a compromise but that one felt the least like one because you can break it down and configure it in various ways for short jumps, long jumps etc

Many of the J/B cues are good. I've got a J&J and a Players I used in the past and they were both great. One I traded my old Players playing cue for an the other was $120, I think.
Switched to shiny new stuff a couple years ago just because I can.

The shaft of a jump cue must be stiff and light.
The shaft of a break cue must be stiff but does not have to be light.

Thus, a Jump+break is a compromise and is either not a great break cue or not a great jump cue.

I just purchased a break/jump cue about a month ago, made by Raven Billiards. I really like both aspects of the cue, a great brake cue, and a fabulous jump cue. Hits like a hammer, and jumps very easily. It is a great buy for a very good j/b cue. Here is a link:
And here are some photos of mine:
