I am a big fan of bank pool. The other night i was watching a couple of women's pro 9-ball and10 ball matches. One of the players which i really like is Wei Wei. She made a couple of banks that really impressed the heck out of me. She did not baby the banks or just hit them at a firm speed, she fired them in holding the ball splitting the pocket. So that got me thinking, I wonder who is the best female banker. Why dont you see many females playing bank pool at the DCC? Why the low interest among female players.? Any strong female bankers you are aware of?

Don't really see any 1 pckt women either

9ball and 10ball are main games played today with 8ball making a bit of a comeback. on modern pro table with 4inch pockets players today are less aggressive and play more defense, so they practice less banks. Usually you'll see a bank shot if it's really easy or played like a two way shots with safety in mind.
The jump cue also took a way some of the banking and kicking abilities from most players.
Different tables under different conditions of cloth and humidity will bank differently, it is a low percentage shot in a tournament condition away from your home/practice table, it is simply smarter not to bank and play safe in most situations.

Never seen a women's banks or 1p match in my life. Not once. Its traditionally gambling related and the gals just don't match up much at all.

I have seen Ashley Benoit play both banks and one pocket at events. I have sparred with her in one pocket and last year she went to the Netherlands for a big one pocket event. I don't think she played at DCC last year, but it wouldn't surprise me to see her play in the one pocket either this year or next.

I’m sure you can find the video someplace from TAR. All around match with Sarah (Rousey) Outlaw and Monica Webb. Banks, 1-hole, 10-ball at DCC I guess around 2005. I commentated the 10-ball with the late Helena Thornfeldt.

Spoiler alert:

They started with Banks, so I went to my room to get something and by the time I got back, Sarah had already won the Banks set and was up on the 1-pocket. I got to catch the 1-pocket, which Sarah easily won. Monica had to win the 10-ball just to manage her losses, which she did.

Bottom line… Sarah played banks and1-pocket pretty well.

Jeanette Lee in her time played banks very well. There is an Accu Stats match of her playing Banks against Dave Matlock at the DCC. She jumped out to an early lead before Dave edged her out at the end to win the match. It’s well worth watching and available on the Accu Stats channel on YouTube

Sarah has a streak of 'old school gambler' in her. I liked her action when she was active.

I think that's the only female bank player i ever watched on video. Never seen gals play banks/1p in person.

Years ago, the Derby City Classic had an all-around prize for the women also. There were more ladies in banks and one pocket in those days.

She was an anomaly in a lot of ways. I mean on one hand given her looks she was the face of female pool for quite a few years. But she was also in real life a player known to get into the box and gamble away from the camera, she woofed pretty fluently too in those moments. I watched her torture a guy one night for fairly high stakes and 💩 talked the entire time with a smile on her face. Her one time husband George Breedlove was no stranger to action and she was once a member here at AZB and I believe with the user name Williebetmore.
