I don't know about the rest of you but I've just been staring at a piece for the last two hours. It's just fascinating! You gotta love this cat's hutzpa. Check out option #4, that's hilarious. In awe of a piece of chalk, yep that's me to a 'T'.![]()
chalk: average number of shots before miscue
Taom (original version, on hard layered tip, maple shaft): 5, 6
Taom (version 2, on hard layered tip, maple shaft): 5, 5
Master (on hard layered tip, maple shaft): 7, 6
Taom (version 2, on softer non-layered tip on Revo): 4, 4
Master (on softer non-layered tip on Revo): 4, 4
I just chalk every shot.I learned about it from Dunnski Dungeon YT channel during the Oscar and Raulito match. He kept playing the ad every 5 seconds and forcing it down our throats...pause if necessary.
I just assume Taom V10/Pagulayan/Titlist chalk are all the same, just using a different skin.
I've been using Russian Magic Chalk for the past 10 years, but it gets quite messy. Rarely miscue though. I think Dr. Dave did a study on this and Magic Chalk came out on top, getting the maximum amount of shots without a miscue and only chalking once. Not fun for my wood shaft or hands though.
Data from his website:
chalk: average number of shots before miscue
Master: 8
pre-flag: 8
Lava: 9
Blue Diamond: 11
Kamui: 15
Silver Cup: 7
Magic Chalk: 29!!!
follow-up for Taom chalk tests (from NV J.7 – Chalk Testing Follow-Up, Taom vs. Master, and How to Chalk Properly):
We are in the same boat about Russian Magic Chalk, been using it a lot for years. But I did not notice it being messy (well, it does leave some clearly visible residue on the cue ball if the tip is soft, but only on really strong hits).I've been using Russian Magic Chalk for the past 10 years, but it gets quite messy. You've probably incorporated it into your pre-shot routine subconsciously, or consciously. Chalking is not part of my pre-shot routine. I don't keep track of how many shots I take without chalking, I just do it when I feel necessary.I just chalk every shot.
Are people keeping track in their head when they play with fancy chalk?
It doesn't leave marks on your hands or glove? I have to clean my shaft after every session. If I don't, people will start thinking I'm playing with a blue KielwoodWe are in the same boat about Russian Magic Chalk, been using it a lot for years. As for SVB's story here, it must be one very familiar for pool: money talks![]()
That explains why you're the house pro in your house with no table, you have no table and therefore don't need to chalk. Something tells me that will change when you have an actual cue in your hand. You've probably incorporated it into your pre-shot routine subconsciously, or consciously. Bro what? I play regularly at pool halls, which this might surprise you, are equipped with tables. That explains why you're the house pro in your house with no table, you have no table and therefore don't need to chalk. Something tells me that will change when you have an actual cue in your hand.
Who TF doesn't chalk their cue
Geez guys, I have no idea why I keep miscueing
Nope, RMC does not do that with me, otherwise I wouldn't have been using it until nowadays. My take is, it also depends on one's chalking style. I rather swipe the tip with my cube, than try to drill the hell outta it while grabbing in my handIt doesn't leave marks on your hands or glove? I have to clean my shaft after every session.
