Max Eberle on people who play on barboxes "Pool players need to grow some balls"

It will take some seismic change in US pool-culture to get large #'s on the9fts. What %age of players have any aspirations to play on the world stage? The number is beyond tiny. ALL league play and virtually all recreational play is on 7ft's and that probably will never change. The US will produce the occasional world-class big table player like this Ernst kid but it won't be the norm.

I agree with Max when it comes to players wanting to get to that level. The reality is that most players have no inclination to get there. Pool is recreation to them and that group of players is by far the largest percentage of people who play pool in the states. Its no different than golf. The largest group of players are the ones that just go out to have fun with their friends and drink. They don't want to go to the range for hours and hours, nor take lessons. And you know what? That's perfectly fine. People play for different reasons. What I find ironic is low to mid level pros griping about that, however its that group of people that are the reason they have patches on your their shirt.

How so? I put what he said verbatim in quotation marks.
Watch and listen to the video again and again.

His grow some balls comment is aimed towards people playing in handicapped tournaments. Those that don't play against better players in an effort to get better etc.

He also said quit playing on the bar boxes altogether for periods at a time.

That is if you want to be a "professional level" player.

Awww, you must play in a lot of barbox handicapped tournaments. Look buddy, I don't claim to be a journalist or anything, just posting a video I saw on FB, no need for the technical dissection. He is definitely saying in order to get better, people need to play on 9ft more often, and to grow a pair and step out of their comfort zone.,

Also, a majority of these "handicapped" tournaments are played on 7ft tables as opposed to 9ft, so it is kind of implied. At least that's how it is where I'm from. The 9ft tournaments here are not handicapped whatsoever. But all of the 7ft tourneys are.

I heard what he said, not what I wanted to hear or what was implied.

I play mostly in the top two divisions that are available in my area. Most of these tournaments are straight up. There are some sprinkled in there that give a game to a player that is need of one based on Fargo, CSR or whatever.

Where are you from?

Fair enough.

"There are some sprinkled in there that give a game to a player that is need of one based on Fargo, CSR or whatever" = HANDICAPPED

I don't know what "top two divisions" mean. Is that like a league or something? I don't play in leagues.

F%$ that flat earth believing carrot chomping douche bag.some of us bar box pool is all we have. I’m still playing every day. I’m still supporting the game by buying all the shit and watching it and subscribing. Stop putting us down… we aren’t pro’s and don’t expect to be. We love the game just as much as anyone else. I’m tired hearing this shit all the time.

This past weekend I saw a 745 Fargo play a 558. The race was 7-5 according to the TD. You think they should have played straight up? Not all tournaments are run that way. Everyone has to play according to how the tournament director runs his / her tournaments.

Players are usually put into divisions in tournaments according to their ability whether that would be via Fargo or say CSR. I play in no less than the top two levels in everything.

League is where pool players go to die. :ROFLMAO:

I play in Wyoming and Colorado.

I have nothing against people who strictly play on barboxes because that's all that's available in your immediate vicinity. I appreciate your tenacity and love for the game. My goal is not to put others down. It is just frustrating that my area only caters to 7ft tourneys and it draws the most amount of people, but when there is finally a 9ft tourney, no one shows up. Then when someone wants to gamble, it's always on a 7ft table, because it's safe and an equalizer...no thanks. I'm just a product of my environment.

Ok, then come put 9ft tables in all the bars near me that can hardly fit two 7ft valleys...

It's not like most players have a choice unless they live near a pool hall that has a lot of 9ft tables, and I'd wager most pool playing American's don't live close to a real hall.

There's two places sort of near me that have 9ft tables, and they both only have a couple so you could be waiting a long time to use them.

We're a product of our environment, and there's hardly any 9ft tables in my environment.

If there were 9ft tables at my disposal like there is 7ft tables, it's all I would play on.

I'm lucky as fk: my local spot, Magoo's in Tulsa, has 10 nice GC4's, one 9ft ProAm and two old Pro's from the CamelTour days. 5bux/hr day rate.Schwiiiiiiiing.
