EUROPEAN OPEN 2026, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, March 10-15

Twelve of the remaining 16 players have Fargoes of 800-plus. Only ones who don’t are Soufi, Sevastyanov, Van Berkel and Salim.

Does anyone really want to play Arseni?

Gorst wasn’t as bad as I thought after watching the full match. Arseni was just much better.

Alcaide was his usual savvy self. Very few errors. Both Kacis looked terrific. Hoang has been the best and most consistent player so far. Zielinksi hasn’t been far behind.

Shockingly, Feijin had a 4-0 lead over Corriere, then lost 10-6.

Filler has the easiest path to the finals.

Saturday shapes up as an exciting one for sure. I'll have to get up at 7 AM New York time to catch the beginning. We shall see!

Finally got out of bed! Looks like K Kaci and Duong are cruising, but the other two matches are up for grabs. This day will produce four very worthy semifinalists. Good luck to all, but especially to those yet to win a WNT title.

The Kaci brothers will meet in the quarterfinals. Nice story, Neuhausen 6 Capito 6 and Duong 8 FSR 6. Crunch time in those matches!

Duong 10 FSR 8. Well played! Neuhausen 8 Capito 7, with the winner to meet Duong in the quarterfinals.

Two quarterfinals are set. Kaci vs Kaci and Neuhausen vs Duong.

In other round of 16 play, Mario He 8 Arseni 2, Zielinski 5 Szolnocki 4, Soufi 1 Oi 0, Filler 3 Van Berkel 2.

Just twelve players are left.

I’ve watched parts of all the matches. They have played out two ways. Some winners had good breaks and controlled the table. Kledio Kaci was the best example. Alcaide just didn’t get many chances. Mario did the same to Sevastanov.

In the other matches, one player made more critical errors to cost himself a chance. Robbie Capito and FSR fell into that category.

Definitely more nerves in today’s matches.

Crowd is much better than last year, but sure seems like this event could head back to Germany the way the announcers were talking.

WNT. TV kept showing it future schedule. No Hanoi being mentioned.

Mika Van Berkel looking good. Filler scratched on a jump at 7-2 ahead and hasn't yet returned to the table. After Mika's three straight break and run racks, it is now 7-6 and the match is suddenly in doubt. Wow!

Josh Filler got his first offensive chance in quite a while but a miss on the four in the side enables Mika to tie things up at 7-7.

With a fairly tough chance on the five ball, Mika misses. Filler must play safe on the six ball, and a nice kick by Mika extends the safety battle. Filler gambles on a long bank of the six, but his miss gives Mika a look at the runout. Mika misses the eight ball but leaves it super-tough, A brilliant cross-side bank by Filler gives him an 8-7 lead. Mika will view this rack as one that got away.

This has been a wonderful match filled with brilliant play from both players!

The 2025 World Games gold medalist Oliver Szolnocki has advanced to the quarterfinals and will face Mario He for a spot in the semis.

Things seemed headed for double hill, but an unexpected miss on the six ball ended Mika's chances. Josh wins 10-8 in a tight one. Mika was super-impressive and was a pleasure to watch.

Filler awaits Soufi/Oi winner, with Soufi presently up 9-6

Heartbreaking.

Mika looks really good.

Team USA are never winning another Mosconi Cup.
LOL, but it does beg the question of why Europe seems to keep producing super-strong young players like Neuhausen, Pongers and Van Berkel, while the USA does not.
