When did Ultimate Pool UK start using striped balls?

I was just watching some UP play and noticed right away that the reds are now striped. They also seem to have a graphic in their middle like american balls have numbers. When did this change come about and why? I'm sure it has to do with sponsorship, but I'd imagine they are trying to lure some american viewers over by making it look familiar to what we play here?

I'm not sure exactly when, but it has been in the last few years. The graphics are numbers. Stripes (reds) are 1-7, and solids (yellows) are 9-15.
