2026 World Snooker Championship: April 18 - May 04

I think whats interesting this year, is that it is not a century festival. A lot of grinding and fighting and a lot of that much more important 60 to 70 breaks.
And because of that my money is on Wu Yize. His win against Selby, who in my opinion is the toughest matchplayer on the tour, was very impressive. And while he had two or three high breaks against Vafei he is up 6:2 against Allen, again making those 70s at the right moment.

Very similar to Zhao last year, who only had 6 century breaks the entire tournament, but he was clutch with the 60 to 70 breaks.

yes Selby is a grinder and tactician one of the best but he was off this year, Murphy and Higgins are equally as good with the tactics and are laser focused, especially Murphy...

hopefully Wu does not fall to their traps the way Zhaou did just now to Murphy because Zhaou really did just get schooled and it was dissapointing not seeing him at is best

I recall well John Higgins out crafting younger hotshots Trump and Selby in previous finals via master class tactics

zhao was outgunned, not outmoved, in that match.. zhao missed quite a lot and obviously felt the pressure, but murphy also played at his very best (100% long pot in the last session). i think in any other tourney zhao wins that match 7 out of 10 times

wu yize is very impressive in maintaining his attacking style. allen can bog down players but yize is insane with those long shots, very difficult to defend against

the reason i personally think he was outmoved was Murphy played a ton of quasi two way shots and never let Zhao in amoungst the reds, and of course his unique break off shot that was putting zhao at a serious disadvantage at the start of several frames

the attacking break shot definitely puts pressure on the opponent, but will it work on the likes of john higgins? murphy is the better long potter but higgins is made of granit, he won't be rattled

john higgins is incredible. the stamina, the accuracy, the grit. i assumed he would be more worn out after his QF, but he's just clutch

Stay down until the ball enters the pocket
Mark Allen just made an epic recovery er uh steal, In a frame that took over an hour.
His final black had him staying down and motionless Long after the final black dropped. 🤔 things that make you say Hmmmm.
Hmmmm? 4 -6 now at this rate it could take a while.
Mark has taken control and sure looks like the favorite, even when behind. 🤷‍♂️

Yize was oh so close to the finish line in the frame. It was a missed green ball that initiated his fall. Mark followed the epic reversal with a century. 5-6 and Yize needs to regroup.....better do it quickly......It's The World Championship!!!! C'mon Mark!

Whole E sh*t. Yize gets a fluked black to carry on.. Then it's the black that refuses to go in.....Mark is definitely the favorite now. 🤷‍♂️
